GE Art Part II. A Couple Of Years Later

in GEMSlast month

Greetings, Fellow Woodwatchers and other fans of fine art and rude...

Exhibiting a local artist here...

Well, sharing bout him again.

Master G. E. has invited me once more to visit his workshop and make some photos of his latest work... which would span a couple of years, surely. For example, I took photos of more than thirty different figurines, generally near the size of, say... a bottle of beer, for lack of better comparison...

Preparing an exhibition in a few months, he said he was.

This kind of work is not my oyster, usually, but being a huge fan of most things wooden, I felt self-compelled to help The Woodmaster and just spend some time around that workshop for a while. Hope something would seep through,,,

This is something spontaneous. Master G. E. is not an academy carver but an engineer with some hobby for the years of his retirement. Getting a bit close to nature and art after a lifetime of serving society, or something.

Time to wink at those once-upon-a-time dreams, I guess.

Walnut, Pear, Mahogany

and some more...

Beauty lies within, the layers revealing themselves by chance and natural design, nigh unpredictable. Random but naturally organized.

Like everything else in my daily routine, I went to that meeting already in a hurry to move on. It's my affection for wood that kept me there long enough to kind of process the items and have a chat at the same time. I might have learned a thing or two. But I don't pretend to have given my best or done the best of jobs.

I let the artworks themselves lead the way. Strange but...

It worked like that

a snap for less than a second to represent the work of many hours, perhaps even days.

And me going to sleep again...

Peace and Sticks!
