Moose Monday - Been A While

in GEMS3 months ago

It's been a while since I've seen a #moosemonday by @shasta But I finally found a deer-like creature to share under this tag.

Someone threw some corn out on the ground in a forest preserve and I saw a really tame deer that was staying still for an extended photoshoot.

It looked at me while I was snapping away, kind of looks a bit annoyed but the corn was too much of a draw for it to be spooked by me.

I was able to step back with my zoom lens to get some full body shots.

It had to rummage around a bit under the leaves for seeds and corn bits.

Hey you! I'm trying to eat in peace over here!

It was so concerned with bulking up before winter I was able to get my toddler daughter near to it.

She kept yelling goat, goat as it sort of resembles one of her books with a brown goat in it. I told her it is a deer not a goat.

After this encounter we decided to check ourselves closely for ticks. Whenever you see a deer around here and don't check you can be sure later on you'll find a tick crawling on you somewhere.

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)

Sort:

I've seen a lot of deer around my neigborhood, and I had to drive carefully last evening as I returned home from a friend's place. It seemed like they were everywhere!

Keep an eye out for ticks, there are quite a few here that hide in the forest and the get loaded down with ticks.

The PNW isn't as bad as the Midwest for tick infestation. I only see a few a summer.

Nice goat 😂 err... Nice moose 🤣 err... nice deer 😆

To be fair it was a pretty small deer lol.
