basically i see the statement of #blacklivesmatter as a statement to defend the black from the hand of the white who are racist in other to abolish racism. but it will be cool if the slogan can be changed to what you suggested #ourlivesmatter, because with the scenario you gave it shows that it is what affect both white and black.

Yes I think the particular phrase is chosen more to divide the victims of police violence than to do anything about it. There were heaps of cases of people being harassed by police earlier that same year. Not to mention shot. The lamestream media ignored it until it hit the profile they wanted.
