Do I Continue Blogging or Quit? A Personal Hard Fork... in The Road.

I’m at a personal hard fork... in the road.

Since lockdown, blogging has become an obsession. Writing and art have always been in my core, so blogging on #Hive has been wonderful.

But, I’m running out of money and time. I have to make a decision soon. Do I stay or do I go. 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶
I want to stay. I prefer to continue actively blogging, but my landlord and overall livelihood are primary drivers in the decisions that I make.

I do have income outside of Hive that allows me some flexibility to lean towards my dream to continue writing. But, it isn’t enough. I must figure out if I’m going to be able to maintain economic productivity with blogging.

The thing is, I’m a staker. I have NO intent to stop staking. It will be necessary to figure out how to continue staking while offsetting bills, life needs, and activities.

Some things up my sleeve:

  • Graphic Design skills; I can sell NTFs, canvas art, Hive products, and marketing materials
  • Advertising and Marketing Communications Diploma/skills; I could market myself for Hive Frontend marketing, advertising, video editing, etc.
  • Delegations; I could delegate a large portion of my stakes if I stay OR go
  • Vloghing; this isn’t something I’ve dabbled in due to a health reason. But if I were to engage in Vlogging it would add to my Hive finances
  • Photography; I could add this to my Hive activities and also offer professional photo editing

Being successful isn’t easy and definitely not fast. Not here, not anywhere. Blogging successfully will require a lot of time that I won’t have if I open my business again.

Locally, I have (had) a wellness business that offers massage, reiki, reflexology, +. I make VERY good ROI from my business. My clients are wonderful and most are generous tippers. What I can make in a single day is what some make in a week… or two.

But!

  • I backed out of the office lease due to lockdown
  • I’ll have to pay $2000 (first and last) for a new office
  • I’ll need to invest in a quality massage table (the shared office had one) $400-700
I’ll be away from my Daughter who could have a problem any second
  • I will NOT have time to post on Hive much
  • I won’t be able to write much, if ever

Clearly, the $2000 + $700 investment to reopen the business will produce MUCH MORE revenue at an astonishingly faster rate. (I would likely make that back in 2wk - 1.5 months), but the pros and cons infuse hesitation.

  • I need to be close to my Daughter
  • I want to write
    I want to art
  • Advertising and Marketing
  • I’m terrible at reliability in keeping appointments
  • I’ve invested funds into Hive that I would like to feed and grow
  • I have my own major mental and physical health concerns that are at play

And

Here I am.

I need to decide what road to take.

I’m shit at decisions.

#SIGH

Tough choice. Here is more money 🤷‍♂️
Personally i try to do both, but certain things just have a higher priority. Sometimes it takes me a month before i find time to make another post, but I still seem to be gaining traction, albeit a bit slower than that of daily bloggers.

Thank you for the insight and support.

I am lucky in that I have no lag between finding topics to write about. It is impossible for me to push out the ideas as fast as they come (and also not coming off as spammy). Every now and again I can't seem to write because the topics that wait aren't what I want to get into on in the moment. - like today.

I think you're right, I probably could get a publication up here in and there while operating the office. I've been thinking that if I develop a blogging plan, it might help.

Something like short post, photography post, long post, and short again- that way it minimizes the weight of writing while keeping the ball rolling.

Again, thank you.

Open the business, imo.
Run it until your hodl equals what you are making daily working the business.
You can try the tortured writer/starving artist route, but I'd suggest it is overrated.
If you have responsibilities, you know that.
If you don't, well, feel free to enjoy the ride, instead.

There was a time in my life that the poor writer life was okay with me; even appealing. I wish I could say that's still the case, but I enjoy comfort too much. My Daughter and I love to eat out often, and doing so acts as bonding time for us and a reason to get out of the house.

Thank you for your support.

Go to the business and get your money there, make the HIVE and crypto your retirement/savings just keep blogging whenever you can and make sure your on the vote.hive site to make your votes grow your crypto.

If family is that much in need of you your business will have to be on hold for the time needed but keep the definite income source while crypto builds to fill the needs.

btw I earn free BTC at http://freebitcoin/?r=42936388 and you can too.

Thank you for the insight. It does help.

Making crypto a retirement plan is a sound idea, but that's not ideal for me. The reason is that this isn't just about crypto- I'm a writer, I've always been a writer, always wanted to? Since I was 7 years, I've never forgotten that my life goal was to be an active publisher.

Truth be told, I’ve been somewhat grateful of lockdown for clearing obligations away that have blocked time and creative thinking for writing.

I’m going to develop a weekly writing plan that will hopefully blend with running the office.

Thank you for your comment.

I wish you a clear mind as you work through your decision! I would be disappointed to see you leave, honestly. I enjoy reading your blog. However, I understand life's challenges sometimes force us to change direction. Good luck to you!

P.S.
@derangedvisions This is one of my favorite blogs to read! She writes very well in my humble opinion.

Aw thank you. That warms my heart.

I write first for self, so if no one reads my words that's okay because I'll still keep flowing. But, it's extra special when people actually read the publications.

I would invest in the business if it only will take a few months to recoup, that is a no-brainer. You cannot count on the crypto (Price) to be here in a month or two, but a revenue stream like that would be priceless!! Somehow I think you could manage to do both if you set your mind to it! Good Luck!

Thank you. After letting the comments here stew in my mind for a couple of days, I've decided to create a weekly writing plan m. I hope it will minimize the weight of blogging, yet keep the ball moving while maintaining the office.

Thank you again.
