Self voting has never been frowned upon unless you are a whale who has a massive amount of voting power. There are accounts that reap most of the reward pool on a consistent basis. Minnow users should be attempting to optimize their curation rewards by voting, and if the content they create isnt worth voting on then you should reconsider and revise it before you post. I have seen there are varying points of views, but it is simply a matter of 50% of the reward being curation and when you are attempting to gain enough HP for voting, a user should remember to vote for themself. This discussion will also continue to evolve as the HF25 update changes the voting window, which means the first 5 users to vote will not be the ones who get the most curation reward. If an individual feels that voting for themselves is NOT something they should do, then they do not have to vote for themselves and they can even write a post (or several) explaining their reason and attempt to convince others that it is the correct action to take. I do not believe that any user has the right to dictate what others can or cannot do, as we all have the FREEDOM to use our vote. If you don't think you can reason your reason, withholding your vote is another method of showing your opinion. It doesn't always have to go straight to downvoting, however we do have the ability to use our vote weight to make a point, with all the ramifications that can cause. If you could start downvoting and harassing your neighbor, it could get ugly real fast. If you tell your neighbor that he can't vote for his own stories, you might irritate him. If we all want to live in peace and work together we should be using our logic and reasoning to discuss perspectives and look at the results logically, and informed we can then either consent or decline. That is what we can do here, and I would vote for that. I also vote for my own posts but I let others vote first, sometimes I decline or burn rewards, and I give away a lot of Hive for fun. I try to be the guy who I wished would help explain things for me, and vote on my stuff, when I started five years ago.
