Descriptions are not the most popular thing among quotes, I guess, so this time I'm going to highlight an entire descriptive paragraph that I liked:

The sounds in the woods were like old friends. They could be cool and rushy, or pattering and crunchy like it was now. Sometimes it was empty and eerie, and sometimes flush with life and music. But no matter the mood of the land, there was always a special undercurrent of ease that accompanied an unperturbed forest. The sound of everything as it should be, in harmony with nature. One could feel it, as one with enough experience could feel out the hopjack paths.

For my entry in this giveaway, I have to return to this description of the fight between Junelight and the bodyguard. The description of her magic and its effects was just too good!

She channeled her cycle into Distanska Artwork and pushed a puff out, knocking the bodyguard back a few paces. Bettine had to sidestep him to avoid an awkward collision. The spectators booed.
They’re going to like this even less, I suspect, thought June.
The strand from the town held fast, so she pulled a little harder from it and found the rhythm for Icevein. Big Boy steadied himself, and her wispy friends suggested a brutal charge. Before he could get the balance to do it, she pushed the Icevein into his limbs. He cried out and crumpled in a heap. The booing came to an abrupt halt.

I really did. I love a good, well-described fight scene. I could feel the tension and the risk while working with a vivid image of the magic which was helping Junelight to fight him. Was very cool.
