We have developed a taste for Boba Tea/Milk. Just like more than half the nation and the rest of the world where it is available, I suppose. It is so good it is bad for you😏
It is sweet ✅
It is expensive ✅
It is addictive ✅
Initially it was almost a weekly thing. One of us will have a craving and all of us will get a filling🤦🏽♀️
Since lockdowns, it became less frequent over time, we weaned off - almost.
Then the other day, I went to get some bake stuff and saw these readymade pearls on the shelf. 250 grams for RM3.00
It was the easiest thing to prepare. We boiled the pearls, and once it floated it was cooked. We then placed some Jaggery(which is a kind of unrefined cane sugar) in a pot with half a cup of water, poured in the pearls and let it it simmer and stirred for about 10 minutes (first pic/gif).
And all of us drank it with milk or tea till we had boba spilling out of our ears.
So, if you are a boba lover, be kind to your pocket and know that you can make this in less time than you driving out or Grab’ing it over. What would have cost us something like RM60 for 5(usually the hubs and I share one), cost us about RM15 including milk.
No fancy toppings to add on, but it fixed our boba cravings for sure😊
Thank you for reading,
Till next time, Carpe Diem!

Remy just made this last night hehehe
she makes the best!!! and she also makes thai tea - ohhhhhhh its so sweet
but so much cheaper to make it at home!!! but it shouldn't be that cheap - because then you drink too much haahahahaha
mmmmmmmmmmmmmm so so good!
Looks like it was a boba day in both households 😁
And yes, the kids finished everything in one go and want more
I am going to stall ... shhhh
hahahahaah!!!! it's so true
the amount of sugar is OBSCENE!!!! LOLOL
Sounds delicious! Now I wonder what it tastes like. Is it like coffee? Or maybe like chocolate? I will try to find some online!
It is tapioca pearls/balls
It's big here but do google it
I am sure you can find it there too 😊
Some of my local places started using conjac instead of pearls because it's.meant to be healthier - but basically it's very sugary!
Oooh
I am going to check this conjac out
Have not heard of it
Sounds like kheer (payasam pradaman) to me. I have been reading about this for years, but never really tried it.
Maybe I should one of these days.
Dalgona coffee is quite popular at home, something we adopted during the lock down.
I think I am totally addicted to it. Although I would give it up for freshly ground and brewed coffee any day.
I don't think I have heard of this payasam
I know the rice one and the vermicelli one - both I loveeeee
I am going to check out
.
.
Ok I checkEd - I feel like I have tried it before but it isn’t as popular here as the vermicelli one
Aaaah, dalgona
We also whipped, ok more like whisked it up a couple of times thanks to the lockdowns
But much ado about... 😅
This boba is made from tapioca- it’s quite the craze here and someone told me in the last 3 years there are over 100 different boba tea shops popped up.
Those are just names in different languages for similar sweet porridge.
Boba is similar to sabudana that we use in payasam or sweet porridge with vermicelli.
I love dalgona though.
I'm gonna to throw in some pearls the next time I make payasam
Thank you :D

I have no idea what boba is???? Please tell me what it's like :)
It is tapioca pearls/balls
It is actually tasteless unless you soak it in sugar and has a springy texture
You think you might like it?
If it has anything to do with sugar I would be sure to like it!!!
