Trick or Treating for rocks and fossils

Cave of the Mounds is Wisconsin's most well-known cave. When my kids were small it was a popular destination for many school class trips and Girl Scout outings.

The Cave was discovered in 1939 near Blue Mound State Park when quarry workers blasted into it. They found stalactites, stalagmites and everything from columns to soda straws, flowstones and draperies. I remember learning in earth science class in primary school that the way to remember which are which is that stalagtites hang tight to the ceiling and stalagmites might grow and someday reach the ceiling. One of those things that stuck in my head!

During October, when you purchase a ticket for admission you can pay an additional $2 and go trick or treating in the cave. You will be given a reusable cloth bag to carry your treats. Inside the cave, you can collect rocks and fossils from the guides along the way. The guides will share information about each of your new treasures.

Hi Melinda,

Sorry to hijack your post. I am going to move around and increase my delegations soon. Tell me more about ecency; I note they are not powering down; many of the other ones are. I trust your opinion on these things:)

I am happy to read this. Ecency is one of the favorite Hive blockchain dApps for many people. For me too. Nowadays I am using it mostly on mobile (Samsung Galaxy A12, Android 12).

I don't use HIVE on mobile and am looking to support curators that maintain a healthy HIVE economy with curation and a solid investment in the chain ... thereby safeguarding against the effects of bear markets.

You can use Ecency.com on your computer. It is different than Hive.blog and Peakd but still familiar. We have many tutorials about the features in Ecency Discord.

Ecency has a solid core of curators who review the posts that have used their points to receive a boost vote from Ecency.
Each month we have 2 guest curators who have an opportunity to learn about curation.

I used Ecency on desktop in the past. They have applications both for Windows and for Linux too (I remember installing it on Ubuntu Linux a few years ago). Nowadays I have a HP 15s laptop with Windows 11, and sometimes I post/comment from their website.

It certainly is my favorite, and I love knowing you agree with me! ♥️

You can hijack my post anytime! Especially with questions about @ecency! I have almost half of my HP delegated to ecency. It pays me a very nice passive income everyday of my share of 100% of the delegation rewards that Ecency earns. I also receive 10% of my delegation every day in Ecency Points. They can be used to boost posts and give nice sized Ecency votes to me or my friends, promote posts in the Ecency feed, or give gifts and tips. I use them for prize rewards in the Shadowhunters contest. As do many other contests.

But my favorite thing about Ecency is the people. Ecency =Decency, helpfulness and kindness. You will not be disappointed with a delegation to Ecency.

I'm always happy to answer your questions! ♥️

Thanks, Melissa. I am waiting for a delegation to expire and then I will send some more over there.

Your content has been voted as a part of Encouragement program. Keep up the good work!

ide love to go here!!

Have you ever been in a cave?

yes many times

School trips to the cave? I remember this place! It was here that Injun Joe hid his treasures, and Tom Sawyer found them.
Of course, I tried to make a joke.

New Ecency banner? Can I use it?

I have been to Tom Sawyer's cave! It is on the other side of the Mississippi River from me. But it's just a half a day's drive.

@irisworld created and donated this Banner for all of us to use. I just put it in the assets Channel in the ecency Discord!

How interesting, and looks like a fun and different plan for trick or treating, hehe.

There is another cave not too far away that does A Haunted Cave tour in October. I like the idea of rocks better!

I will tell my son in case he has a chance. He is studying in Chicago.

That's where my son lives!

You're never too old to learn... Now I will remember the difference between stalactites and stalagmites 🙂

I remember Mr Swanson standing in front of 6th grade Science class like it was yesterday. He was a great teacher

What a great idea for fun and learning. I never heard of such a thing. :)

Better than candy, right?

You are asking a hard core sugar addict that question. LOL !

Rocks are longer lasting for sure....
