Thursday night I am always in pursuit of finding out what new can be done. I like to venture out in different parts of the City and explore. The City is small, so it gets repetitive going to places. Most of the time over the weekends we drive out of the city, but still sometimes we manage to find some hidden treasures in the city itself.
Lately while returning from work on the way I was watching some lights on the Sand dunes and was curious to know as to what this place is coming up with. Because before there was nothing here, but lately I have been watching some Cars parked here and movement of people in this place. So we decided to go up to the dunes which is in the city limits. There was nothing much over there. It is a camping site, people are coming there with their tents and spending time out in open. The weather is nice so everyone wants to be outdoors.
Last night the weather was rough, it was extremely windy. We drove up and stepped out of our car but the sand was blowing roughly because of the wind, so we could not stay out longer. But it was a good view and on any other day we can come here with our hot kettles and chairs and spend some time up taking the view of the Muscat city by night, where everything is glittering in colorful lights.
Some pictures that I clicked up on the Dunes. The crescent moon has an orange tint and feels like some magic in the air.
This is one of the new Mall opened in the city and a huge one, called Mall of Oman. Lately it has been the buzz thing in town, since the Snow Park is also in this Mall.
The famous Z road. You can see the zigzag lights going up on the hill. This is a small mountain which when we cross over takes us to another small town called AlAmerat. People normally go here for long drives, because there are sections on the way up where we can halt and there are good views of the city from top.
The Mosque that you can see far off, is the second famous Mosque in the city. It is not open for visitors like the Grand Mosque. I have always been very curious to visit this mosque. A local person told me that if I want to visit, I can wear their traditional dress and visit. May be some day I will do it.
I am freezing out. It was very cold and not only that the wind was blowing on the face along with the Sand, which was making it uncomfortable for me.
After the Dunes, we decided to take a drive to the Mosque. There are fluorescent lights all around the mosque, which gives this glow to the whole structure.
The Dome has a yellow light reflection from the inside and from the outside the fluorescent light effects together gives a very attractive look to the whole Mosque.
I am feeling better over here.

violet castle - wow!!! so nice! in love with the colour and the whole view - looks so fantastic!❤️💒
is it warm there? you wear so light clothes
That Castle is a Mosque, the prayer place of the local people of the Islam religion.
You feel this is light, yes, may be in comparison to what your winters are :-)
But for this place these are the heavy woolens. The temperature goes up to 15 degrees, which is very cold for us...hehehe
you get us an amazing pics! wow
Thank you
I had no idea it got cold in that part of the world. That winding road up the hill must be something to see at night, and I love the way that the lights play off of the purple color of the mosque. Since I'm getting the travel bug once again, who knows, someday I might even get there. :)
From November to mid April, the weather is very good in this part. And the months of Jan and Feb the temperature drops down further. Yes, Oman is a very beautiful place, and unexplored from tourism point of view.
