RE: Residential Schools, Unmarked Graves, and Infant Mortality

in Proof of Brain4 years ago (edited)

With the Residential Schools in Canada, these were not children being sent to work someplace… these were indigenous children removed from the homes of their indigenous parents and sent to a place run by priests and nuns to learn the new religion of the ruling Government (Christianity) …. The Indigenous people, the Anishinaabe spiritual beliefs were seen as a form of paganism, they called God, The Creator of everything “Gitchee Manitou” (Great Spirit) they believed that the Great Spirit was everywhere, in all things, plants, animals, trees, rocks, everything … they were seen as heathens and their old religion needed to be beaten out of them. They were seen as demons and filled with evil spirits, if they did not obey the rules of the New Religion they were abused and murdered. Many of them did not speak English and when they were told you must worship Jesus , they thought they were saying Ghizziz …. The Moon.
