I think comment farming comes into place with the generation of rewards per comment. Posting multiple comments doesn't mean anything as far as I know. You can delete any of them so long as there is no vote.

Okay so is this a consensus or will Hive Watchers click just tell us that it's hearsay when we bring up this logic as a code of ethics for Hive?

Thank you for responding, phusionphil. You are owed an answer that I do not have for you. Please give me the week to research it if you don't mind. In my ignorance, I have failed to ask that very question.

Before I go off to find something concrete I will respond with what I believe is the truth. What I wrote is based off of an observed consensus. I haven't seen something proceduralized that says,

If phusionphil makes multiple, and identical comments, that receive rewards, then that equals vote farming.

I read it off of different articles and discord conversations. However, let me ask so I can get to some official statement, article, or whatever I can get to that gives you a solid answer.

So if I do not have control over the accounts that vote for my repetitive comments, is the scenario all of us are probably interested in.

I have seen a lot of self voting, I used to abstain, but after I was flagged a bunch I started self voting to recuperate the losses as I was for profit blogging.

I'll respond separately regarding self-voting and duplicate comments. I see those as two separate entities.

Self-voting

Self-voting needs to be addressed in an official capacity. It's a flaw of governance that allows the practice if the community is against it. The admins need to figure that out.

In POB, when I see someone self-voting, and it's on my curation window, I ignore the self-vote. I don't care if someone self-votes and it's a low level. If the self-vote is worth a couple of POB, then I'll skip over it. Again, the system literally allows the practice. As far as I know, the community went against someone's self-vote when it came from whales. I can't recall specific names or situation on that matter. Someone high up abused it big time and now there's mixed emotions on the topic.

Duplicate comments

You're correct. None of us have control over people that vote for duplicate comments. I don't consider this a flaw in governance. I consider this a flaw of the individual not paying attention. It's been drilled into my head that it was vote farming though. What I've done in POB is to contact the user and notify them of the issue. I would tell them that I would DV the lowest rewarded comment and move on. I remember doing it for a while, and then author's themselves corrected the problem.

In Lucylin's case, however, it's not that easy. He's got duplicate comments and it needs to be addressed. I want to DV the lowest rewarded duplicate, but it's difficult on this matter. I don't agree with all the DV's he's gotten over the last couple of months. Maybe it's fate, but for some strange reason, I ended up looking at voting patterns on his work since October 2020. His is a genuine case of continuous downvoting by repeated individuals. It's great writing until about March-April of 2021. After that point, it's rants and trolling. That's when the continuous downvotes began and they've kept on going since then.

You shouldn't have to self-vote to recoup losses in revenue. Another, significant flaw in the DPOS regime is voting without justification. It's something I've labored over in POB significantly. Whether you want to upvote or downvote, drop a comment explaining your interest in my opinion.

I am a fan of sovereign currency and I like the downvote utility.

Perhaps its time to make the downvote into a utility, I have blogged about it in the past but the reactions were very harsh due to the harsh nature of the downvoting.

Downvotes could be converted to plagiarism votes. Instead of being zeroed, the payout would be sent to a neutral wallet that could be designed by lawyers to easily mitigate copyright disputes. if we let the lawyers make that neutral wallet there would be a better chance for outsiders to be able to claim hive, and it would actually create jobs for lawyers who could solicit celebrities whose content was plagiarized on hive.

@rawbe was the one who inspired the idea above so I feel some credit is due to him if this idea is first of its kind for DPoS. He is quite knowledgeable on copyright topics and has good input if he feels like talking
