The vice president of Nigeria, prof. Yemi Osibanjo commissioned the 'Dakkada Luxury Estate' and inaugurated a 21 storey building in Akwa Ibom state, marking the 34th anniversary of the state and Nigeria's 61st independence anniversary.
This project was not made known to a lot of people. Who knew they were building a 21 storey smart intelligence building in Akwa Ibom state? The news of the vice president coming to the state had spread because it obviously is not a regular occurrence.
I was outside, receiving fresh air and conversing with a friend when the road became flooded with cars. Not just any type of car, government official cars. They kept passing and blowing their siren causing a whole lot of noise pollution. There were over twenty cars. All for what? All for the protection of the vice president. There were over seven truck loads of army officials.
The money used to buy those numerous fleets of cars could always be put into making life easier for the taxpayer. I'm a taxpayer, you are a taxpayer. For each good you purchase from the market, you pay an indirect tax and as such, the tax shouldn't be misused.
The vice president gave a message of felicitation from the president, Muhammadu Buhari to Akwa Ibom state. He added that it's always a pleasure to be in Akwa Ibom state.
Hearing the news got me thinking. Things are being built, storey buildings, factories and whatnot, yet the people who are supposed to feel the positive changes are not feeling anything.
If one wants to cry and make a banter about politics and the politicians, the person would seriously be wasting precious time.
It has become a new normal. We just have a leader up there doing the exact opposite of the things he should be doing. There are those who are related to the leaders in one way or the other who benefit from the vine and yes, there are those who just keep ranting to anyone who cares to listen about how bad the governance is.
Building infrastructures that don't help readily with the taxpayers money is not right. I guess they're fighting more to retain the beauty of the state rather than retain the inhabitants/ citizens. I must commend that the state is in a good state.
Ps: I used inhabitants there because with the way things are going, animals and insects would want to migrate to another habitat.

I couldn't agree more what's a smart building anyways and why do we need it
The building is probably there for beautification and after that, nothing.
I'm actually hearing about this 21 storey building for the first time. I was reading your post keenly waiting for the part where you would explain how the building was dedicated to the homeless, or used as a watchtower for street cameras in order to fight crime.
Sadly, it seems the building is one of the many ways or opportunity to extract funds from the federal government in the name of embarking on useless projects. Probably extort 1billion and spend 1million.
It wasn't dedicated for any good use.
They just stated that it's a low budget building.
How possible is that? Low budget 21 storeys.. well, we can't really argue because the building has been built and commissioned.
