Happy Friday Everyone...
The rainy season that hit in a few days made mushroom activity grow rapidly in nature, we can find it in various places that certainly have rotten plants. As I found today, I found several different types of mushrooms and in different places of course.
Some of these mushrooms certainly have very different physical characteristics from each other, they have their own uniqueness and beauty, but two of them are types of mushrooms that dry out very easily, and luckily I got their photos when they were still fresh.
First, I found a very beautiful mushroom, they grow along the surface of a rotting hardwood block, they grow in groups making them look like they are filling the surface of the rotting wood block. This mushroom is Trametes Versicolor, commonly called Turkey Tail Mushroom, because its shape is very similar to a turkey tail that is being spread.
These mushrooms have different colors and are not monotonous, depending on the environment they grow in. They are a little different from most mushrooms that grow in humid and wet environments, these mushrooms only need moisture to grow.
The reason why this mushroom is called Turkey Tail Mushroom is because of its physical characteristics. This mushroom has a disc-like surface shape, with a base color of orange, light brown, and sometimes deep orange. They are also easy to mark with a line pattern that is clearly visible in the middle of their surface that crosses following the lines of their shape. And usually these lines mostly have a different color from the base surface color of this mushroom, but sometimes these lines only have a darker color than their base color. However, one characteristic that remains is the white line on the outer edge that is always present on this mushroom.
In addition to its irregular shape, it turns out that this mushroom has properties and is often used as medicine in ancient times. They extract this mushroom and make it a medicine for several diseases. Reportedly, the extraction of this mushroom is used for supplements for endurance and immunity.
This mushroom grows freely in the wild and is easy to find, has a solid and hard surface making them not easily destroyed like mushrooms that have a soft surface structure.
What an amazing mushroom that i got today...
Next I found a mushroom that was no less beautiful than the previous mushroom, but I found it in a different place, namely in the wet grass with a pile of rotten roots. This mushroom is very beautiful and made me realize them even from a distance, there is one interesting fact about this mushroom, they cannot be exposed to direct sunlight, I realized it when I saw their position growing always at the bottom of their host, where most of the sunlight is blocked by their host. This mushroom also grows in groups like the previous mushroom, and they grow all over the surface of their host.
As I said before, each mushroom has its own unique characteristics, and this is evident when we look at this particular mushroom. They have thread-like lines all over their surface, and if you look closely, you will find fine hairs on the edges of their surface, and this is an amazing physical feature.
This mushroom is a scalloped mushroom, and this name is taken from the shape of the surface and the threads on their surface. They have a white color and sometimes yellowish white, probably because of the spores or dirt that sticks to their surface.
They have a chewy structure, and have a canopy or surface width of only 1-4 cm. Some say this mushroom can be consumed and tastes like straw mushrooms. However, not a few also think that this mushroom is poisonous, so it is best for us not to consume it carelessly.
Finally, I found a very unique mushroom that I found in between the bushes and they grow singly, unlike some of the previous mushrooms that grow in groups and fill their host's body, this mushroom actually grows on the ground and does not grow on a host or rotten plants. Actually, this mushroom is a type of Inkcap mushroom, but from a different type. This mushroom is known as Pleated Inkcap, with the Latin name Parasola plicatilis. They have a very thin canopy, easily damaged by rubbing against other plants and easily torn.
Inkcap mushrooms are known for their diverse canopies and also their bright colors, but this Pleated Inkcap mushroom is known as the only type of Inkcap that has a black color all over its surface even to its supporting body.
This mushroom cannot be eaten and reportedly this mushroom is poisonous, and on average, Inkcap mushrooms cannot be eaten and contain poison, so think again if you want to eat it...
