My first thought on seeing this cluster of mushrooms was that they were part of the Upside Down World. Translucent and fringey existent on the veil, these didn't look quite real. They almost looked surreal, to be honest.

Being part of the upside down world, we did not take a taste. Stranger Things still being on the mind, I thought it better to only take photos to share.

If these things are worth $100USD/pound, please let me know, in the comments below!

Kidding aside, this fungi find was very interesting. There was almost like a slime/ooze on each one of these. I have no idea what they are, but I'm hoping the #fungifriday group can assist. Thanks!

Sort:

The common name is white jelly fungi, the latin name is Ductifera pululahuana. Technically its edible but it has no taste and the texture falls apart when cooking so it's not choice edible. The only thing I could think of this being useful for is some kind of emulsifier maybe. If you could figure out how to use it in a oreo cookie or some mass produced sort of product it could become a cash crop.

Man, I really think you should write a book - your perspective on foraging is quite a bit different than most foraging books

Most the books only list the best edibles though there are actually many more edible mushrooms out there that aren't quite considered choice edible lol. I may try and make a chip material out of this white jelly roll. In theory you can just load a ton of spices into it, blend it into a mash and then dehydrate it. If it turns out crispy and not bendy like a chip it could be a good use for it since I find lots of it around here.

I saw some clip not long ago of someone touching mushrooms like this. They were all soft and wriggly like jelly :) Did you touch them?

Oh yeah, very jelly like...sort of like a slime that was running off of them. The bugs really seemed to like the substance, however

Yumm :D

There are many types of mushrooms in nature, but if you want to consume them, you may be a bit hesitant about transparent mushrooms, they are a bit soft. hive family community is always good keep moving forward in the goodness of togetherness

Hahaha, upside down translucent fungi. I wonder if they'd be poisonous in the upside down or not.

Neat looking things!
