Today, we decided to pay a quick visit to a lovely little café called Quackers at Thornbridge Hall. We were pleased to see that dogs are still welcome at Quackers.
In 2002, the actual Hall was bought by the Harrison family. Emma had previously visited the Hall as a child and dreamt of owning it. Along with her husband, Jim they renovated the Hall, gardens and added the little gem of a café that you see today. I presume the café is called Quackers, because it is situated near a fountain that features rubber ducks for the children to play with during the summer months (and the odd adult). I think it's a fun touch that makes the café stand out.
The café has a cozy and welcoming atmosphere, with quirky little touches that make it different from your average café. You do get the sense that the owners appear to be unconventional, which always helps. They definitely like their ducks!
Even though the menu offered a variety of options, from breakfast sandwiches to coffee and cake, as well as light lunch items, we decided to just settle on having a couple of Christmassy gingerbread lattes as time wasn’t on our side.
The café can be accessed from the Monsal Trail in Derbyshire, UK which is a poplular walking route used by walkers and cyclists alike. After our coffee, we spotted two santas cycling up the trail. One must be an imposter, surely?? There's only one Santa!
We watched them for a while and then they cycled off into the distance to get ready for the Christmas Day deliveries. I hope you've all been good ....
Oh nice! That looks like a lovely place to go and two Santas? Something is going on because I saw 60 the other day and they were all running. Training I reckon in case the main man falls ill perhaps?!?
What?! Is nothing real any more? Actually, next week I'm going to see about 300 santas doing a charity run. It's so wrong. 😁
lol!!!
I have never drunk gingerbread latte, I can imagine its taste and I wonder if it will have a spicy touch like ginger. I am also intrigued in the way it is prepared.
It's usually a mix of ground ginger, cinnamon, and nutmeg. They just put the syrup in the cup first, before they do their magic with the milk.
Someone has stolen all the rein deer! So they had to cycle to do their delivery rounds!
Nice and friendly coffee shop. The surroundings are still cold and wintry. So good to be able to walk in the countryside.
I think it is cost cutting. They cannot afford reindeer this year. 😁
I like the look of this cafe, and it's a great time of the year to visit places like these.
I don't celebrate Christmas, but those Santa photos are ace, and it's rare that I ever see 2 of them in one place:)
It's just not right seeing two together. 😁
Santa Claus is already doing his thing everywhere.🤭
I liked the way the place looks and it seems to be very cozy to share a delicious coffee alone or with someone. You share a beautiful experience with us today.
Thanks for sharing your coffee experience.☕
Excellent day.
My pleasure. 🙂
