Capture invisible light
Some time ago I removed the hot mirror filter from my old Nikon D300. Besides the visible light spectrum, the sensor now also picks up infrared and ultraviolet light.
Vor einiger Zeit habe ich das Hot Mirror Filter meiner alte Nikon D300 entfernt. Neben dem sichtbaren Lichtspektrum nimmt der Sensor jetzt auch infrarotes und ultraviolettes Licht auf.

In this picture I have illuminated the pipe and the room with an 🔦 infrared torch. I had adjusted the white balance to the pipe. So it looks like a monochrome infrared photo. Afterwards I illuminated the Biohazard symbol with an orange 🔦 Convoy S2+. It appears green in the picture because the white balance for the visible colours no longer matches.
In diesem Bild habe ich das Rohr und den Raum mit einer Infrarottaschenlampe beleuchet. Den Weißabgleich hatte ich auf das Rohr abgeglichen. Somit sieht das aus wie ein monochromes Infrarotfoto. Im Anschluss habe ich das Biohazard Symbol mit einer orangen 🔦 Convoy S2+ ins Bild geleuchtet. Im Bild erscheint das grün weil der Weißabgleich für die sichtbaren Farben nicht mehr passt.

The difficulty with this picture was to adjust the white balance and the colour of the light I used to illuminate my face so that I didn't look completely ill. The bokeh around me is from a modified Helios 44, an old manual lens from the USSR.
Bei diesem Bild bestand die Schwierigkeit darin den Weißabgleich so einzustellen und die Farbe des Lichts, mit dem ich mein Gesicht beleuchtet habe, so zu wählen, dass ich nicht völlig krank aussehe. Das Bokeh um mich herum stammt von einem modifizierten Helios 44, einem alten, manuellen Objektiv aus der UdSSR.
First I illuminated half of the skull with the IR torch, then I mounted the camera on a second tripod and illuminated the left half of my face. I had determined the exact positions with several test shots. In the last step I changed the lens and painted the bokeh into the picture with optic fibres. And all this during a single exposure.
Zuerst habe ich die Hälte des Schädels mit der IR Taschenlampe ausgeleuchtet, dann die Kamera auf ein zweites Stativ montiert und meine linke Gesichtshälfte beleuchtet. Die genauen Positionen hatte ich mit mehreren Testaufnahmen bestimmt. Im letzten Schritt wechselste ich das Objektiv und malte mit Glasfasern das Bokeh ins Bild. Und das alles während einer einzelnen Belichtung.

Here again I first illuminated the skull with the IR torch, then blew some smoke behind the skull and "flashed" into the smoke with the Fenix PD36R. Then I put the camera on a second tripod and painted the two eyes with an acrylic blade. I marked the positions on the ground and measured the height with a folding rule.
Hier habe ich wieder zuerst den Schädel mit der IR Taschenlampe beleuchtet, dann etwas Rauch hinter den Schädel gepustet und mit der Fenix PD36R in den Rauch "geblitzt". Danach habe ich die Kamera auf ein zweites Stativ gesetzt und die beiden Augen mit einem Acryl Blade gemalt. Die Positionen dafür habe ich am Boden markiert und die Höhe mit dem Zollstock ausgemessen.

So sah die Kamera während des Umbaus aus. Ich hab sie wieder zusammen gebaut und si funktioniert sogar noch.
WHAT IS LIGHT PAINTING?
Light painting is a unique form of art. The artist illuminates the scene with diverse light sources and paints light traces into the picture with various light tools. In addition, we use various other techniques, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during the exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited.
All our pictures were taken during one single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cutting and possibly adjusting the white balance, our pictures are not processed on the computer.
