Hi Photo Community!

Some of you might already know that on the end of 2019 there was a change of ownership for the Photofeed project. We started to do daily curation again since the 01.01.2020. Since then we went trough almost 10.000 pictures and curated roughly 1000 of them in our Daily Roundup's during the past 120 days.

As I'm running the project on my own at the moment, I was able to collect quite a lot of data and experience in Photo curation. My main priority was always to keep the known High Quality Curation from the previous owners @aweber & @yumyumseth alive.

Photofeed Account

In the past 5 months we have managed to increase our HIVE POWER from 4500 HP -> +12.500 HP (incl. 7000 HP delegation.) which is pretty significant and also very important for the growth of this project.

  • 100% of all rewards will be used to Power up our Hive Power to guarantee a steady grow for this project.

What's new?

Starting in May we will have 2 new things added to the project:

  • Interviews every 2 weeks (with all types of different Photographers on the Hive Blockchain)
  • Statistic/Feedback/Announcement update 1 x Month

In the near future there will also be events/contests integrated in the project

Feedback, Critique & Brainstorming

As this is a community driven project I would highly appreciate to get more feedback and critique. Don't be shy to let me know your thoughts or ideas on how we could improve/extent this project.

Also feel free to let me know which things you don't like or should be better. I'm always open to listen to any kind of critique! That's the best way to improve something in my opinion.

Voting

  • We currently give out 8 x 100% Votes on our daily Round Ups
  • Each 100% vote is worth over 1$ (incl. Voting trail followers)

The Main focus of our curation philosophy is always to curate the Highest Quality Photography on the Hive blockchain.

I'm very aware on the fact that some people never or rarely get an upvote from us. Trust me, I would love to curate everyone of you guys, but that's unfortunately not possible.

Maybe I will set up an Photofeed_Bot account which gives out small upvotes to everyone who participates with our tag in our Daily Curation round ups.

Please let me know if you have any idea on how/what we could change for this issue

Support

If you want to support this project you can either follow our voting trail,  by delegating through your Peakd wallet to the Photofeed account or by clicking on one of the follwing delegatinon options:

  • 100% of the Rewards will be used to Power Up the Photofeed account

Thank you

First of all I want to thank the 2 Peakd founders @asgarth & @jarvie for their hard work they've put into the amazing Peakd front-end and also for the continues support to the Photofeed project. You guys really rock!

Second I want to give out a big shoutout to all of our long time supporters. Especially people like @intrepidphotos who gave out countless of generous upvotes to hundreds of different people who participated in our roundups. Thanks!

Third I want to say thank you to everyone else who upvotes for our Roundups , follows our curation trail or just by simply consuming our content! Thanks guy's!

And also a special thank you to our amazing delegates!

nice that you have continued the project so well since the change! it's always great pictures to watch every day thanks to you. I think the idea of the monthly contests is great

Thank a lot Maik! Thanks for sharing your great work with us and also thanks for supporting this project!
And I'm indeed pretty stoked to move this project further and further! :))
Lot's of stuff coming up!

Awesome 🙌 It's going to be interesting

Cheers! Always excited to see your work!

This is amazing, does this community support macro lens based photos ...?

Oh absolutely @good-darma ! We curate every type of photography! Just make sure to use our #photofeed tag (between the first 5 tags) under your posts and I will look through them! :))

Hello hello!

What is the front-end? Can you add a link in this post for people unfamiliar with it?

I didn't actually know Photofeed had changed ownership. Who are you when you're not photofeeding?

Does Photofeed have any posting guidelines that photographers should be aware of?

Thanks!

Hi! :))

Well the front-end I was talking about is peakd.com. The founders implemented Photofeed as curation project on Peakd which is super useful.

My personal account is @worldcapture

There are no guidelines. The only thing you need to do is to add the #photofeed tag on one of your first 5 tags under your posts and I will go through them.

Thank you! :))

Oh nice! Thanks Worldcapture!

I've really only started using PeakD but I'm loving it so far. I'll have to check out the Photofeed curation project. Thanks so much for the info. I'll have to get to posting!

Awesome! I'm looking forward to see some of your work! :))

You are doing a great job so far, especially considering that you are running the whole thing alone!
Interviews sound good, I loved reading the old ones! They help a lot to get to know each other better!
I don't have any suggestions right now but if I think of something, I'll let you know.

Cheers :)

Thanks for the feedback @fotostef - Highly appreciated!

Yeah I think the interviews will be a major improvement to not only be a "curation project". At one point I will definitely hit you up for one if you are interested ;)

Thanks again, and feel always free to share any of your thoughts :))

Cheers!

You're going good, thanks for taking the photofeed further.. I'll let you know if i come up with any idea or something.

Awesome! Thanks a lot @himalayannomad

@photofeed tag and the community behind it, all the support, curation, shoutout for the authors - I think this is one of the most important projects for photographers who share their works as well as for the community who want to see the best photos from different places of the world, different subjects, admire the beauty of photography.

I hope this project will keep growing, photofeed is not only a site, a blog, is the whole idea behind it!

I got many support from You in the past, on Steem blockchain as well as I am getting now, on Hive. It is hard to upvote everyone, hard to make everybody happy, if Your idea is to promote only the best works - there will be always some people who can feel forgotten - but there is no simple solution for that... maybe once a week generate a post with less known authors and their works? Hard to say, because it is extra work with this... People have to understand, it is like a competition, a contest - if You are sending Your shots to the contest - You have to be ready for failure if there will be many better works. It shouldn't work as a de-motivator, it should work opposite - we, the photographers, have to work on our techniques, knowledge about photography, we are spending a lot of time and sometimes money to reach interesting locations, after that, we use all our knowledge gathered throughout the years to make the shots look like we wanted - this is very long road to good photos, nothing comes quickly and easy.

If someone uses tag #photofeed - should be ready to stand in competition with the best authors on the Hive!

I think You should keep the quality - the quality content is the most precious. It should insipre and push others to become better and better in their passion.

Sorry for such long comment!

All the best to You!

Hi @photovisions !

Thanks for your feedback!

I 100% agree with your text. I do see it exactly the same. It's very important that people don't think we don't like/care them if they don't get upvoted. They should see it as a incentive to work harder on their photography and they surly will be recognized as they do so. On the end it really is a competition on who works the hardest or is the most creative in their photography.

Keep up your great work! :))

I will! Good luck and spread the beauty of photography across Hive platform!

If someone uses tag #photofeed - should be ready to stand in competition with best authors on the Hive!

very well said! :=)

Sounds like you're keeping up all the good work! I do love the idea of interviews as well, those can be cool.

Thank you! :))

Thanks for taking over this project; it has been a bedrock for the photographers on the platform for a lot of its history. I agree that you should keep focusing on quality; there are plenty of other photographic communities on Hive where people can share their work and get feedback. Photofeed should strive for the the top quality; something to showcase what talent we have on Hive that we can all be proud to be part of.

Thanks for the shout out. I have powered up over 100k Hive on the platform now and predominately using it to curate photographers here as I am keen to see the community develop.

Hi @intrepidphotos!

Thanks for your feedback! I absolutely agree with you and will 100% follow the original philosophy to only reward outstanding high_quality photography.

I hope that people who are new or not to advanced yet see our roundups as motivation to develop themselves and also work on increasing their skills.

Thanks again, Robert, for your incredible support through all of the photo communities. It's people like you who have an tremendous impact on the growth of projects like PhotoFeed.

And also thanks for sharing your incredible work with us! You are definitely a big inspiration for a lot of people here (including myself)!

Cheers! 🤘

thank you back. I know sometimes it cannot but feel exausting to go on. frankly, I am very very pleased to read this part:

100% of all rewards will be used to Power up our Hive Power to guarantee a steady grow for this project.

will double my little delegation soon. all the best.

Thanks a lot for your comment @qwerrie !

I think it's very important to use all rewards to build up something big for the future.

Cheers! :))
