My social media handle will not be a hindrance to my dream job

We are living in a civilized world. We are living in a world where everyone wants to showcase or display their lifestyle or their daily life on social media. Social media has become a vital part of our lives; many people share their thoughts, ideas, and personal lives on social media. A whole lot is happening in social media, coming to the question: Should employees be expected to submit their social handles to their employers? Some people may see this as a silly question or a silly request from employers; that is why I say everyone has their opinions. I see nothing wrong with an employer demanding employees social handles. The reasons for the demand for their social handles are to go through their social media to know what they do and the kind of lifestyle they live.

Is not every company that requires their employees to submit their social media handles concerned about their image? Nobody will like to hire an employee who will destroy their image in the industry. Every company watches out for the people they will employ in their organization. Your employer having your social media handles will also take to watching out for the things you post.

An employer demands an employee submit their social media because the company is watching out for its organization; they don’t want to employ anyone that will damage their reputation in the industry. They want to access the person before they will employ the person in their firm. Social media is capable of bringing an organization down. Organizations are so careful these days when they want to employ people that is what they also go for: a background check. They go as far as telling their employees to submit their social media handle. For me it is not an invasion of privacy; they are ensuring the image of the organization.

After graduation from the university, I searched for a job for so many years, but when I finally found my dream job, my employer demanded that I submit my social media. I was surprised because my social media is not my certificate; I have to submit my social media to my employer to my greatest surprise. My social media got me that job. They found out that I am a pro in my job. They found that the previous organization I had worked for, I was able to sell their brand through my social media handles. For someone like me, I was so willing to submit my social media handle because I know that I sell my professional in my hands.

I love my job so much, and I know how hard it is to find work in my country. The thought that my boss has my social handle helps to discipline me. I mind the things I post; it has really helped me to live a private lifestyle.

The main reason why this organization asks for your social media handle is because of their company reputation. I don’t see anything bad in an organization asking their employee to submit their social media handles.

It really could help the company. It might encourage many to maintain a certain level of decorum within the organization. But if they go beyond that, I think there is a problem.

Reputation and protection of image is what it involves here if any cooperate body ir organization will ask an employee to submit his/her social .media handlings.

It should be by choice not mandate.

You have clearly stated outstanding points but the fact is, there are times when employers goes beyond using data gotten from employees social media handle to protect their organisation image. There are times we find ourselves in awkward situations on social media, in such a case employers wouldn't care about the cause but more about how it affects the organisation image in so doing it puts such employee job in jeopardy. I mean employees will have to walk on egg shells on social media just to ensure they don't get involved in matters that can cause their job harm, are we not supposed to have rights to use our social media accounts as we see fit but in this case such rights no longer exist.
