Hello, Hivers! Once again, I am back with another fictional story. This time, I am from the past and traveling to the future. After returning to my present timeline, I will share my story with all of you. Enough with the introduction, Magic Wand... KABOOM!
The room was filled with smoke. Dlm's wife was crying, thinking she had lost her husband forever due to his obsession with time travel. Suddenly, a loud noise surprised her as the gates of the time machine opened. Dlm came out from the time machine, but the duration of his journey remained unknown.
As the smoke cleared, Dlm became visible to his wife. She continued to cry, believing she was seeing her dead husband. Dlm's smile of excitement from his time travel quickly turned to concern as he saw his wife being upset. He approached her slowly, his face filled with worry, and softly reached out to touch her. The single physical interaction caused his wife to faint.
When Dlm's wife recovered her senses, she saw her husband beside her bed. He was continuously using a cold cloth on her head. After she woke up, he gave her a cup of tea. A smile of relief was also notable on her husband's face.
"Jessica! It's good to see you in good health again," said her husband. Jessica was also happy to see her husband alive and hugged him with happiness.
"Jessica, you made me worried," said Dlm.
"Oh, and you made me joyful by disappearing into a machine?" replied Jessica.
"How was your trip to the future? For a moment, I thought I had lost you," she further added.
"Yeah, It was fine.", Dlm answered.
"But don't you want to share more about it? It was your life's dream to do time travel," she curiously asked.
"I will talk about this later, honey. You need some rest today.", dlm answered in a caring tone.
Once his wife had fully recovered, she asked about the time travel again. They both sat down, and Dlm began telling the tale.
"I saw a lot of things in the future, Jessi, but one thing caught my attention the most (Jessica was looking into his eyes, surprised). Did you know that in future I met a Genie (Jessi was thinking how a scientist could believe in magic)! This genie was not any ordinator genie Jessi. When you touch it, it glows. It can replicate people's voices and face anywhere in the world to make communication easier. If you had this Genie, you could talk with your mom every day and never worry about her, as you would always know how she's doing. When you are bored, the genie can shape-shift and make voices to show you all types of life dramas for entertainment. If you don't like something, you simply make a wish, and it changes. It's like a never-ending form of entertainment. We could even control characters as if we were gods. We can become gunners, drivers, survivers, and much more just by wishing it. We can also capture a copy of things through the Genie, like still or moving memories (she was speechlessly looking at him). Imagine being able to meet your father by seeing his memories. If you want to find out how you will look in a dress, glasses or if you were a rabbit or a lion then you can do that too on your face in an alternative reality and saving those as memories. The Genie also helps you travel the world and unlock unlimited knowledge (she wanted to say something but it felt like she sealed her lips). And here's the best part, you no longer need to send letters because your Genie can send messages instantly. You can even set reminders for specific times." He kept speaking to his wife, she could only look into his eyes, no longer paying attention to his words.
After he finished, his wife said, "WOW, that's amazing. I have one question."
"What would you like to ask?" Dlm inquired.
"You requested to time travel only once. I beg you, please promise me that you won't attempt time travel again.", she answered.
Dlm took some time to consider her request and at last agreed.
Jessica let out a breath of relief as she was worried about his husband's well-being. She believed that her husband never actually traveled through time and had a head injury. Whether it was a dream, a reality, or something hitting on his head, her only concern was to ensure that he never attempt time travel again and put his life in danger. She pretended to understand and believe everything he said and hugged him relieved at the thought that her husband would now be safe. Both were unaware that the Genie DLM met was "Smart Phone" of the future.

This was intriguing and I wouldn´t blame DLM´s wife for being curious and scared thinking she had lost her husband. Sincerely, this is a perfect way to explain what a smartphone is, in the form of a genie and its function. I love the twist and how you ended it making it more enjoyable for your readers. This was the crazy idea you had last night... Hahahahaha

The idea wasn't just the result of one night. I have been thinking about this since last Sunday. My initial idea was to travel back in time to the Stone Age. Then, I would draw what a smartphone is on stones, but here you get a chance to see me draw on my diary. ;)
Imagine what I would draw to explain a smartphone to people in the Stone Age.
Anyways, the name Jessica was inspired by the city's Jessica, but she is nowhere to be seen. :)

Obviously, Even if it's a fictional story but it was giving real vibes, and the character Jessica was interesting and her thought is also logical.
Mimicry is still popular in the future wow. Dlm came back to let his soul mate know about the adventure isn't it's romantic lol. So the smartphone dlm was able to see his future too haha. Building your story around time travel is awesome the genie, I love the twist at the end. The smartphone in the future would be crazy compare to what we have today, I enjoyed reading and I hope you will fulfill your promise to Jessica so she doesn't get to worried next time.

It was the love of dlm that he wanted to protect her wife thus not took her with him. Similarly you can notice wife's caring nature.
On mobile and laptop, the formatting appears differently. Can anyone help me format this in a way where the text and images have equal vertical spacing by reducing the length of the images? Should appear correctly on mobile and laptop.

I must put it to you though, the story made me realize that we need to cherish our loved ones especially if we still have the opportunity to spend time with them. We should not wait until we can use virtual reality to keep the memories alive.
The conversation between Dlm and Jessica after his return was equally touching. After all, isn't it small acts of kindness and devotion that make a relationship truly special? Of course, it is.
What Dlm found during his time travel journey is just how much technology will change our lives. Technology will not only enrich it as it is presently but some of us have a feeling it might complicate it as well. Why? Some people might lose touch with who they really are.
Rounding up, your story was able to make me think hard about the possibility that while dreams and adventures are important, it's the quiet moments of connection and understanding that we share with the people that we love that truly matter in the end.
When I wrote this story, I honestly wasn't too impressed with my own writing. I don't write fiction often, but when I do, it usually comes from something that happened in my real life. I use fiction as a way to let go of negative emotions and turn them into something positive and creative. Specifically, there was a part where the character talks to his wife about smartphones, and I didn't think much of it at the time. But after reading your comment, I started to think about the relationship between the husband and wife in the story. Looking back at my old blog, I realized that my future self might appreciate it more. Maybe I was too focused on comparing my writing to other popular fiction and didn't appreciate the bond I portrayed between the characters.
