RE: Family is Everything: The Importance of Caring for Our Aging Parents

in Hive Learners • 2 days ago

Hello my girl, how are you?, wish fine! 😀

Now that I am 57 years old, I understand and know what it feels like to not have someone to take care of you, and to live with that fear of what will happen when I am not able to do things for myself, especially when I have been a such an independent man. My family pushed me aside and I had to take care of my mom and dad when they were older. With mom I cared for her with all the love in the world, and even with dad who was very cruel to me, I was humanitarian and took care of him as much as I could, until the same government intervened and forced me to put him in a care home, but I didn't want that.

I believe that older adults should have the right to decide where they want to spend their years, whether in a retirement institution or with their families, and that decision should be respected and understood. It seems to me that it is ideal and reasonable, don't you think?
