I attended an event at Lekki here in Lagos State, Nigeria, sometime in October last year. Halfway into the event, one of the Nigerian celebrities entered the event center, and immediately, the environment changed.
Many fans were screaming, leaving their seats and rushing down to where this young man is, as if they saw a god or something. In fact, some persons were even injured in the process because the crowd was much struggling to make their way to where the celebrity was standing, but later on, some security men intervened.
A Nigerian celebrity
To say that I was surprised at the fan's reaction at that time is an understatement. It's not a crime for fans to see their favorite celebrity and start jumping on them, snapping pictures, and all that. Personally, you wouldn't find me doing that even in your dreams, as much as I have lots of my favorite celebrities, from actors to musicians, dancers, and so on. As a matter of fact, I have seen some of them, aside from the one I mentioned above, and of course I didn't demonstrate any sort of madness because of a celeb.
On the other hand, celebrities acting aggressively is out of point because the moment you sign to do a job of serving the public, just know that such a thing is expected. You will definitely see strangers jumping on you in excitement, requesting to capture the moment with you to showcase to the world how good it feels to see physically a celeb he or she has been admiring over the screen. But truth must be told, it's baffling how we see fans overdo these things. For God's sake, these celebrities don't even know most of their fans, and it could make a celebrity feel unsafe seeing a random stranger jumping on them.
I think this is one of the reasons why some of the celebrities act aggressively; maybe they feel insecure. However, there should be limits to every action, both on the side of the fans and the celebrities.
Intruding into someone's life uninvited might make the other person aggressive because there's emotion in play. The fan might mean no harm or might be dangerous; no one knows because a fan might be claiming to love a celebrity, but deep down, it's not really a genuine love, and that's why most times, I don't blame celebrities for acting the way some of them act toward their fans. The annoying part is when some fans demand money from these celebrities, like, are you entitled to anything? Because you support such a celebrity? Perhaps this category of fans thinks it is their support that took the celebrities to the position they are in; even if it's so, we can behave in a more civilized manner.
Also, I wish some celebs would stop going too extreme with their fans by being arrogant and aggressive to them...let things just be balanced. Having said that, it might be a bit difficult for a celebrity to remain popular without their fans, who always support them and help them be known in society. So I feel that celebrities even need the fans more than the fans need them.
Overall, there should be mutual respect and understanding between fans and celebrities. As much as die-hard fans should maintain a boundary while expressing their love and admiring their favorite celebs, celebrities should also be humble enough and respectful towards their supportive fans. It becomes a win-win for all; after all, we need each other to survive.

This is actually interesting—sometimes, the relationship between fans and celebrities can be quite confusing. 🤔Hi @Nkemakonam89, I've read your writing. 😊
I have a friend from my hometown who is a huge fan of a certain celebrity, let's call them A. He digs up everything related to A, searching for every possible piece of information about them. 🔍✨
One time, while we were having a casual conversation, I deliberately teased him by pointing out A’s weaknesses or flaws. Oh wow, it was like starting a war! 😂 He got really mad and wouldn’t accept it. Haha!
It's true that many fans tend to be overly attached to their favorite celebrities, to the point where it can affect their friendships—sometimes even causing distance or hostility. 😅 But in reality, they don't even truly know what kind of person the celebrity really is. 🤷♂️
Okay, thanks! 👍
Hahaha 😂😂... just like some guys supporting football team...the way they react negatively when their opponent fan speak against those they are supporting baffles me.. meanwhile, they don't even know who the celebrity is...it's crazy and funny..lol
The Nigerian celebrity in the first picture is Bob Manuel Udoku. I like his movies a lot but like you said, I can't imagine myself shouting hysterically, screaming or jumping on a celebrity. From a young age, I have always seen the as humans, just as I am.
Even the K-drama fans that I adore so much on screen, I can't jump on them for any reason. Maybe it's because I know that I would not like such if it was done to me that's why I feel like I can't do it to someone else.
You are right about the celebrity name...I also like his movies but can't go mad because of my fellow humans..lol
Oh .u are also k drama fan... seems like you too like movies oo 😂
I did and still do but now the movie urge is under control cos we are hustling to make money 😁😁
For sure, the both sides overdo the reaction.
The time Pele visited a lounge close to my house, I was totally surprised. I kept questioning myself why the 'maaaadness' from the fans because this guy isn't that rooted but yeah,... that's what it takes to be a celebrity 😂.
My own, I won't lie, I can control myself in the presence of artists of the entirely world but when that particular person comes, forget it😂😂
What if your favorite celebrity came in town with bundles of dollars in this economy.. Will you unleash the fan in you to go get your share? I said dollars oo 😂..not Naira
I don't think I have ever been crazy about any celebrity cause some of them act like demi gods. Some fans go extreme too how would you want to hug someone you are just meeting for the first time
Exactly oo...it's even crazy hugging a stranger all in the name of my favorite celeb
Haha 😂. I needed to laugh here sis because of how you mentioned that some people even injured on the process.
This is truly madness. I don’t know what they gain in doing all that. And these celebrities are the ones that keep getting popular, increasing their wealth.
I can’t see myself doing it, but I have since attributed it to something that has to do with the Jenzy era and the 21st Century.
Enjoy your day lovely 🥰💕🌸
Laugh out ur worries 😃 sis , e worth laughing at because what's the madness for...it's really tiring
Just people pursuing their own career and we wan carry their matter for head .lol
Yea..the Jenzy era

I tire oh! I beg make we dey do our own dey go jaree.
Thanks sis for sharing. Enjoy your evening 🥰💕

Even if I see Omotola Jolaade or Genevieve Nnaji anywhere, I won't go weird over them because they are my favorites. They are humans as much as I am.
It is unnecessary!
