New Year, New Me: Changes for a Healthier Lifestyle

in Hive Learners3 days ago

The new year kept unfolding, gradually presenting me with the opportunity to look back at my mistakes of the past year while building a better lifestyle from there. As years go by, we experience changes in different aspects of our lives, and while embracing positive changes isn't negotiable, I would love to talk about certain things I did last year but would no longer do in this present year.

People's personality varies, and there's one about me that ate dip inside of me in the previous year; however, I already made a decision at the beginning of this year to put an end to it in order to embrace a more healthy lifestyle. Pleasing people at the expense of my happiness, or better said, so much of the inconvenience at that time, has been one habit I found it difficult to drop. It's all about, I don't want to have issues with anyone; let me do this or that to make them happy and for peace to reign. This habit has also been dragging me through placing others first, which on several occasions has altered my personal goals. Enough of listening to what people will say but standing my ground and doing the right thing without unnecessarily pleasing people always.

Yesterday I took a drastic decision around this subject of discussion, and today, I am happy I could take such a bold decision unlike before. Even my mum called and couldn't stop expressing how I am getting mentally matured just as supposed. Maybe because I have a fragile heart, but whatever that will make people talk about me, I do avoid it like a plague even when I should be wiser and take bold decisions and stand on them. One thing is certain: you can never please everyone. No matter how much you strive, people will always look for one thing or the other to talk about you, but the most important thing is having a sincere heart and not doing anything to hurt your fellow being. This is my realization, and this year I am saying NO to pleasing people always at the detriment of my happiness.

Another thing I am dropping this year is carrying excess financial burden, including the one that isn't my responsibility. As long as I will continue to take up bills for my family and relatives, the era of spending without proper planning is over this current year. Being financially disciplined enough will definitely be a plus to my financial growth.

Having said that, there are also changes I will love to experience this year, and one of those is intentionally managing my time. As busy as I used to be, I must admit that I haven't been a great time manager. Most times, I allow irrelevant things to eat up my time within the day, making me sleep late at night while trying to meet up with my daily tasks. I plan to begin a portioning time with each task I am set to do; hopefully, I will be able to manage my time better this way.

Another important change I will enact this year is intentionally creating time for activities that would bring joy and relaxation for me and my family. Lots of ideas fill my head on this aspect; I will see how things unfold, and finally, practicing mindfulness!!

There you have it! Hopefully it's going to be a memorable year that I will look back on and be proud of my self-growth.

Anything I don't feel comfortable doing, I never see the point pushing on with it. If I'm helping someone and it's not coming from the heart, I'd rather not do it, unless they really need that help. However helping people at my own peril is something that will stop by all means.

Mama, I believe you have made the right things to change in the new year. When we want to make a difference for ourselves, we must make some tough decisions in life.

2025 will be great and I believe that these changes will make life a lot better for you.

You see that aspect of pleasing people at the expense of our happiness, better put, "let me do it for them to avoid any issue," I am off, too, this year. Let me please God instead while also making sure it doesn't affect my relationship with people, it's all a matter of applying wisdom and moving on. The Lord is your strength as you work on these goals for this year 🙌 🙏

Princess, just finish me at once 🤦🤣🤣🤣...I am learning my lesson biko
It's better to please God than humans
Thanks for coming through 🤗

I knew a very long time ago that people would never get satisfied no matter how much you tried to make them happy, so I stopped pleasing people.

And that financial aspect am also with you on this table; I already told myself that I won't kill myself because of anyone financially.

The year 2025 is my year of peace.

You have good plans. Really pleasing others above our own happiness only hurts us, and paying bills for your family ended up being an extension of this habit, right? I hope that in 2025 you will be able to think more about yourself, and do what is best for that. This is not selfishness, but loving yourself, and it is important.

Exactly...the more I try to please others, the more I took up burdens that aren't mine...what for 🤔...I think I realized this late but it's fine
Thanks for your warm feedback 🤗

Wow, it's a nice decision to take up a life that pleases no one so long as it's okay with you.

I have been in a situation whereby I put other people first, doing things that pleases them even at the expense of my happiness. One day I decided to act otherwise and it was the best decision I ever took . Kudos to you!!!

Sure...it may seem uneasy at first but at the end, you will realize that you took the best decisions

So you have a lot of things to change. I am still thinking what to change about myself. Whatever you do, I hope you can find yourself happy at the end of the year without any regret.
