How to Import Hive Blogs on Medium?

HMH3.png

Step 1:

Choose a Hive blog post that you want to import to Medium.

For this guide, I’m going to use:

How a Broken Pen Taught Me to Trust Faith and Timing by @dlmmqb.

Step 2:

Review and edit your blog post on Hive if needed.
In this case, How a Broken Pen Taught Me to Trust Faith and Timing required some minor edits before importing.

Step 3:

Copy the Hive.blog link of your post.
(Links from other Hive frontends like PeakD or Ecency are not supported on Medium.com)

Step 4:

Go to Medium.com and click on “Stories” from the menu.

Step 5:

Click on “Import a story” (you’ll find this option on the Stories page).

image.png

Step 7:

Paste your blog’s Hive.blog link into the field provided.

Step 8:

Click on “Import” to begin importing your Hive post to Medium.

Step 9:

Make any necessary edits on Medium. Explore features like subheadings, image captions, and other formatting tools to enhance your post.

Reminder: Always add a canonical link so search engines and algorithms don’t penalize you for duplicate content.
When you use the Import feature on Medium, it automatically includes a canonical link to your original Hive post. It will look something like this:

Step 10:

Click “Publish.”

image.png

Just like Communities on Hive, there are Publications on Medium.
However, publications often take a long time to accept submissions and they usually don’t accept posts that are older than 24 hours.
So, it’s usually better to publish your post without adding it to any publication.

Step 11:

Add appropriate tags (called topics on Medium).
Avoid overly broad or generic topics, as they can negatively affect your post’s reach.

Tip: For Hive blogs imported to Medium, you don’t need to paywall your story.
So, it's not necessary to buy a Medium membership just to publish.
You can always choose to “Paywall your story” later if you want.

image.png

Step 12:

Click “Publish now” to make your blog live on Medium!

Step 13:

Prefer sharing your post using the “Copy Friend Link” so people can access your content, even if there’s a paywall.

I didn't know about Medium prior to this blog. Thanks for sharing the insights. I'll surely look into it. Have a nice day.

This is my new project to market Hive on Medium.
You don’t need to buy a Medium membership to benefit from what’s coming next in this project.

The idea is simple: import your old Hive blogs to Medium with the proper canonical link and stand a chance to win prizes for high-quality content.

Note: This post is set to 100% power. I also plan to put this HP to good use for high-quality content creators.

Now, put your old content to work and use it to redirect traffic to Hive.

You can also showcase Medium stats of your blog (if the canonical link is added and it was first published on Hive) to get upvotes from @hive-echo.

This post was just a placeholder, so I can redirect to it in actual contest posts.

Are you making money on Medium now buddy?

Since June of last year, when Medium opened its doors to Pakistan, I haven’t even earned $10 in total from all those months combined. The minimum withdrawal amount is $10, yet Medium kept charging me $5 per month for membership.

So why did I buy the Medium membership? Because it still helps with their algorithm, just like how a Twitter/X membership boosts your reach there.

Also, every Medium blog I publish includes a canonical link to the original Hive post. If I can convert Medium users into Hivians, that’s a win-win. And if Medium gets a few new paid memberships along the way, that’s a win for them too.

I get around 5 reads a day on average. Read is when someone scrolls for 30 seconds on your blog on medium.

Here is my most read blog on Medium:

Ohh damn, thats shit haha :D
Depending on the goal ;)
Getting peopel from Medium to Hive, is not a bad goal :D

Avoid overly broad or generic topics, as they can negatively affect your post’s reach.

Nice initiative, did not understand how it can negatively affect ?

Every tag or keyword has competition. When you use a broad tag like "health," you're up against everyone else using it, which lowers your chances of the algorithm favoring your post.

Instead, if you use something specific like "desi totka," there's less competition since it's not a generic or widely used term on Medium. For example, my blog post Chicken Tikka Recipe consistently ranks between 10th and 35th in Medium's search results. The "Chicken Tikka" tag is less common and focuses on a narrow topic, giving it an edge.

Thanks for the guide as I didn't explore the Medium before 😅😅
I will surely join this initiative. I don't wanna skip any chance of WINNING 😁😁.

Good Luck for this new project

this is cool done my first post

Cool! 😎
Will share more tips for properly sharing post like SEO, formatting etc.

In contest (when it will start), all u need is those already imported blog links to participate.

Nice! Didn't know this was possible...

!PIZZA
!BBH

Very good idea. This post of yours is necessary for the entire community.

That is pretty neat! Damn.

YIPEEEEEE!

After a few basic guides, tutorials, and tips posts, the contests will begin!
The rules will be simple and Hive-friendly in every possible way with FREE PRIZES to grab.

(2)

I could skip the 2-3 posts I had planned and jump straight into the contest posts,
but most people wouldn’t know how to participate properly or how to effectively drive traffic to Hive.

Naah, get some posts out there explainint it to people first, then start the contest :D

Hi,

Your work in compiling this is commendable, but I would want to highlight certain significant issues about this initiative.

A Web3 decentralised ecosystem, Hive's main philosophy is to empower users by moving away from centralised sites like Medium. This project, which demonstrates how to bring Hive posts to Medium, seems to go against that goal.
Hive here offers no new tool, onboarding process, or genuine value-added service; rather, it's just a guide on how to repost current material. Although you might have permission from the original author, this still seems more like self-promotion than real Hive marketing.
The Hive Marketing community is meant to spread decentralised solutions, onboard new users, and promote Hive's tools. Regrettably, this article contradictes those objectives.

Furthermore, the Medium import procedure is already accessible in their Help area, therefore calling this a "project" on Hive could be deceptive.

I wish you would see this criticism constructively and direct your next efforts towards helping Hive to reflect its genuine values: decentralisation, originality, and community benefit.

Thanks.

Note
And a big problem will arise if such posts start to increase, then those who check for plagiarism or copyright in Hive will have a lot of difficulty checking them and it will take more time.
Don't take any of this to heart. This is what I said based on my research and what I knew. I may be wrong, but I don't think so.

This project is similar to reddit marketing, binance square marketing, twitter/X, posh, hive-echo and more in nature. Hive is Marketing itself on web2 for a long time and recently more and more such initiatives r needed as we need more users.

A question for you! How do you plan to bring medium users on hive to let them know our pros of web3? You gotta Knock on doors to invite them here.

Don't hold grudges because I wrote you can't make hive.list similar theme market you were trying to make. Why I said that? You still have alot of learn related to pulling and storing data in HAF-DB.

I have no grudge against you. I have learned a lot from you on Discord. And no one holds a grudge against their teacher.
I wrote my reply roughly keeping the rules in mind.
If I have used any words in writing or speaking that have made you feel bad, I apologize, But you can see the rules again, they haven't been updated.

rather, it's just a guide on how to repost current material

Read carefully other comment replies of mine.

Although you might have permission from the original author

Please read carefully, no one is taking permission from other authors.

Furthermore, the Medium import procedure is already accessible in their Help area, therefore calling this a "project" on Hive could be deceptive.

Please don't use ai for arguments. It's giving you wrong advices. That's not what this is about.

Nice one dude :)

We should be able to create stronger backliinks and build a bigger audience for HIVE. One of our biggest weaknesses is the fact that we lack brand awareness. Even those who are interested in blockchain social media tend to be unaware of HIVE. We have to do our best during this bull market to capture at least a few million monthly readers for HIVE content.
