I value very much the work that is done with my hands in art, it is something that includes passion, knowledge, attention to detail and a lot of love for what is done, seeking perfection.
The walks that are accompanied by art, for me in particular, I enjoy them very much, and within art I also include nature, which is the best artist of all.
But this time I enjoyed walking among mud, earth and wood. Not literally, but among works made with these materials.
I believe that an artist like Juan Vega, who makes these wonders with his hands, really has a great sensitivity and love for art.

My art-wrapped walk filled me with surprises, memories, journeys and renewal.
The art gallery El Ateneo always renews its art exhibitions and this one culminated at the end of last month. Just before I was able to head there and enjoy a unique tour. I have seen a lot of art made in sculptures and with my hands, but nothing like this.
Upon entering, the first thing that caught my eye was the hands.

Personally, for me, hands are something very special, with them I make my art, be it traditional or digital, without them nothing would be possible, so I consider them the most important thing I have. I love my hands and I know how valuable they are. They take me on artistic walks every time I paint a picture, for example.

When I see these hands so perfect, so well moulded, so detailed, so realistic, I am very surprised. To realise every crease, every skin tone, the nails, the fingers... everything, everything in the hands is very complicated to do in painting and much more in sculpture. It is an art that takes a lot of time and is often not highly valued. For me it is pure marvel.

There was a lot in this art show called βEl Taller Figuradoβ, but these hands are the ones that caught my eye, my attention and I stayed there for a long time admiring them, especially the movement, the poses, the details and every centimetre of this good art.
I tried to capture every different angle of them, they were absolutely realistic and beautiful, both men's and women's hands.
The materials the artist used were mostly terracotta and red clay. In other works he used cedar wood. The terracotta was sometimes glazed and sometimes painted and all the works were worth seeing and admiring.

In the same space where the hands were, in a corner of the long corridor there were some beautiful sculptures also made in terracotta and red clay and next to them the sketches that originated them. All the works of art by this artist originate in this way, and by many artists as well.
The sketches and drawings are the ones that give the idea and form of what will later become the work. This is also how I was taught. It was a back and forth walk, because I liked to go back and look at those details. Also, looking again opens the door to seeing things that are different or that were overlooked before.

This glazed terracotta sculpture was a beauty that had so much detail and stood out from the rest, its colours were beautiful.

On a wall painted red, there were a series of statuettes in the same material as the above, but much smaller. The smaller the work, the more minute the details, therefore the more work involved.
They were all different and some were placed high up so it was more difficult for me to see them up close, but they were all worth it. Just look at the positions of the arms, the faces, the clothing, a lot of painstaking work.

Behind that wall with the sculptures, there were three busts, three life-size faces with very well executed facial expressions. One was very serious, one thoughtful and one wanted to speak. I got close enough to see the artist's hand in each part of the works. The moulding was astonishing.

To one side another beautiful enamelled terracotta sculpture of a little angel. The blue and gold was so prominent and made it look beautiful.

When I turned around I found a sculpture that also contained cedar wood, it is a reddish wood that combines perfectly with the other materials. The artist has made a very good mix of these materials especially in this sculpture and the hands, as well as in those accompanied by the sketches.

An art gallery which is always a pleasure to attend and see what's new, promoting the great work of the artists, in this case works that stand out for their realization, perfection and detail.
Of course this walk, ends with a delicious coffee on a rather cool but beautiful day.
Thank you very much to all of you for joining me on this artistic tour. Best regards to all of you. See you soon.

There is no doubt that art is in the air all the time in your city. I love this place that you have visited, and you found these beautiful works
Beautiful photographs, dear friend @avdesing, I appreciate that you have shared them with us
Have a lovely afternoon, a hug for the whole family
They are great works of art made of a very noble material. Thank you very much to you, big hug!
Hands are very important in a person. They say a lot about a person. And I always pay attention to the nails and every detail, lines, veins, calluses, moles. Also the lines on the palm of the hand. I think I look at a person's eyes first and then their hands.... I also look at the feet if they let me hahaha.... You know I'm a bit crazy.
This is a great walk full of details and art. I loved it.
You know I look at exactly the same thing? Eyes and hands, always... the subject of the feet... they are not so easy to see hahaha But if the hands for me as an artist and you are too, are very important, is what I liked the most of the art show! Thanks Nani!
π
I don't immediately look at the feet either, but if the presentation.... dirty shoes... it can't be!π€£
π€£ el que solo se rΓe de sus maldades se acuerda...
No seas mala.... jajajaja me rio siempre! jajaja
WOW his work is amazing i especially love the hands they are so lifelike
Thanks for joining the Wednesday walk and have a great day
It was an amazing ride, I was totally amazed by the realism of those hands, that's also what I liked the most and I took pictures as close as possible. Thank you very much!π
πππ
That Ateneo never ceases to amaze, I have been fascinated by the work of Juan Vega. Those hands are incredible... and the statuettes .... I don't know what else to say... thank you for this walk and for discovering Juan Vega's work.
A big hug @avdesign.
I assure you that when I walked in and saw the hands, I said wowwww, my god what am I seeing, I was so... I don't know how to describe it... I know how difficult it is to draw hands and making sculptures of it must be fascinating and extremely complicated, I totally admire what I saw... and there is a metal exhibition left! Juan Vega's is over, I have to go and see what's in its place, I want to go already! Thank you!π€
Sorry it took me so long to get back to you, I got a call from a friend for a beer and I couldn't say no. I've read what you said about the difficulty of the hands before. I guess for artists like you, the technical part you can evaluate better than me. For me, difficult or easy, the exhibition has fascinated me. Again, thank you for this wonderful tour.
Good evening to you.
It's true I've painted so much of it that I know what it's about hahaha thank you so much! glad you enjoyed the beer!!!! Good night!
For those of us who do not know, we are left with the pleasure of enjoying the art of others... π
Excellent!!!!β¨π
Buenas noches π
After so many awesome hands, I imagined how the cup of coffee was held with real hands - your ones :D
Good idea for the next time I go out, the cup with my whole hand. I was told that you are an expert in almost not appearing in the photos... I must learn hahaha
What? hahaha, I better don't ask haha
Well, it could be true as I consider my physical appearance not to be of great interest and grace π
Coffee with hand next time - good idea indeed π
Yes, yes, a little Venezuelan birdie told me hahaha
A cup of coffee and art goes well hand in hand. These are wonderful sculptures with exquisite details.
Have you seen what a beauty it is? I knew you'd see it, it's amazing!!! Thank you!!!
I love these cultural walks, the works are beautiful, I love the realism of the hands
Beautiful photographs @avdesing
Thnak you so so much @miprimerconcurso π
