We set off from Montreal early in the morning with the beautiful snow that had fallen overnight. It's going to be a perfect day for skiing with this fresh snow. My rental car is in an alley right next to the great mural by DFEK. I can't resist adding a little StreetArt to each of my posts.
Le départ de Montréal se fait tôt le matin sur Montréal avec de la belle neige tombée pendant la nuit. La journée va être parfaite pour skier avec cette neige fraiche. Ma voiture de location se trouve dans une ruelle juste à côté de la magnifique murale de DFEK. Je suis obligé de mettre un peu de StreetArt dans chacun de mes posts 😀.
La station de ski Bromont se trouve à environ 1h15 à l'est de Montréal en voiture. Il s'agit d'une belle montagne (pour le Québec) pour skier avec assez de pistes pour passer une bonne journée.
The Bromont ski resort is about 1h15 east of Montreal by car. It's a great mountain (for Quebec) for skiing, with enough runs to make for a great day out.

We arrived late morning with a beautiful blue sky. We started with an easy run to warm up, as it hadn't been warm last Thursday (-25C / -13F). But on the ground there was some nice snow, a good 15 cm of snow powder 😋.
Nous sommes arrivés en fin de matinée avec un beau ciel bleu. Nous commençons par une piste facile pour nous réchauffer car il ne faisait pas chaud jeudi passé (-25C / -13F). Mais au sol il y avait de la belle neige, un bon 15 cm de poudreuse.
For your information, Bromont is a ski resort that opened in 1964. It's one of the largest resorts in the region, and superbly equipped for night skiing. Supposedly one of the largest in North America.
Pour info, Bromont est une station de ski qui a ouvert ses portes en 1964. C'est une des plus grandes stations de la région et superbement équipée pour skier la nuit. soit disant une des plus grandes en Amérique du Nord.
The morning was very pleasant, especially with this trail between the trees and these facilities for children, including the Grizzly house. Fortunately, he wasn't there when I passed by. / FR : Le matin fut très agréable, surtout avec cette piste entre les arbres et ces installations pour les enfants, dont la maison du Grizzly. Heureusement il n'était pas là quand j'y suis passé 😀.
As the cold and hunger began to set in, we took a little break with a healthy meal 😀, a poutine without gravy. But is a poutine without its famous sauce still a poutine? 🤔
Comme le froid et la faim commençaient à se faire sentir, nous avons fait une petite pause avec un repas santé 😀, une poutine sans sauce. Mais est-ce qu'une poutine sans sa fameuse sauce est encore une poutine? 🤔

Architecture étrange du chalet
The resort is also equipped for winter with a few water slides, a tree course... I've never been there in summer, as I'm not a big fan of water slides. / FR : La station est aussi équipé pour l'hiver avec quelques toboggans aquatiques, un parcours dans les arbres... Je n'y suis jamais allé en été, pas trop fan de glissades aquatiques.
At the top of Mont Brome (554 meters above sea level), we have a superb view of the Eastern Townships, with the town of Bromont at the bottom of the slopes. There are a few good breweries like Brouemont or West Shefford. Unfortunately, as I was heading back to Montreal in the evening, I couldn't stop for a good beer. It's always nice after a day's skiing.
Au sommet du Mont Brome (554 mètres d'altitude), nous avons une superbe vu sur les Cantons de l'Est avec en bas des pistes la ville de Bromont. Il y a quelques bonnes brasseries comme Brouemont ou West Shefford. Malheureusement, en repartant le soir, des obligations m'attendaient sur Montréal, je n'ai pas pu m'y arrêter pour déguster une bonne bière. C'est toujours agréable après une journée de ski.

It was cold but a great day for skiing, especially thanks to the fresh snow.

Fresh snow is awesome. We had loads of new snow but yesterday we had sleet again and it formed another ice layer… today it was 2 degrees Celsius 😳 so it started to defrost again.
I rather have meters of snow. Without the ice. The garden oaths are still as deep as my hips though.

It's snowing here too, always more beautiful with a fine white coat, although in town it quickly turns brown and slushy.

I find that photo intriguing.
We rarely get that kind of snow here in the UK. I've just woken up to see that it was frosty last night, and I'm contemplating cancelling a trip I planned with my husband to a nearby town... Haha, it might be a nice fresh day to get out though:)
I wasn't able to take a photo that really showed the architecture of the dining chalet (there were quite a few people eating), a sort of rotunda topped by a very large square-shaped skylight with no means of access. I didn't see the point...
It was cold but a great day for skiing.
