When it comes to choosing somewhere to go for a walk, I always prefer small towns with nature nearby. This location allows you to have the best of both worlds: some movement of people, but also some quiet seclusion if you want it. For this, the town of Esquel was ideal, as it had just what I was looking for. My stay lasted a total of two months, and that time was more than used to my advantage. Being a small place I was able to get around almost everywhere, without missing the best sights of the place at all times ❤️.
Cuando se trata de elegir algún lugar para ir a pasear, siempre prefiero las pequeñas ciudades con naturaleza cerca. Esta ubicación te permite tener lo mejor de dos mundos: un poco de movimiento de gente, pero también algo de aislamiento tranquilo si así lo deseas. Para esto, la ciudad de Esquel fue ideal, ya que tenía justo lo que estaba buscando. Mi estadía duró un total de dos meses, y ese tiempo fue más que aprovechado por mí. Al ser un lugar pequeño pude recorrer casi todo, sin perderme las mejores vistas del lugar a toda hora ❤️.
The fact that these cities I choose are small is that I can visit almost all the beautiful places on foot. I like walking a lot, so now my walking parameter is that if somewhere is 15 km away or less, I can walk there without any problems. The city of Esquel wasn't that big, so a lot of places fulfilled this requirement. Just the fact that I was heading somewhere was a walk in itself, because the mountains could be seen very easily from any point ❤️.
El hecho de que estas ciudades que elijo sean pequeñas es que puedo recorrer casi todos los lugares lindos a pie. Me gusta mucho caminar, así que ahora mi parámetro de caminata es que si algún lugar queda a 15 km o menos, puedo ir caminando sin problemas. La ciudad de Esquel no era tan grande, así que un montón de lugares cumplían con este requisito. Ya el solo hecho de estar dirigiéndose a algún lugar era un paseo en sí, porque las montañas se podían ver muy fácilmente desde cualquier punto ❤️.
When I had just arrived in Esquel, I was told that I could not miss either of the two lagoons around here. The first one I had visited was La Zeta Lagoon, taking advantage of the fact that some guests also wanted to visit it. Of course I missed the other one, but unlike the first time, this time I didn't get any companions. This is not a problem for me, because as I travel alone, I am used to solo trips. If you ask me if this is boring for me, the answer is always no 😅.
Cuando apenas había llegado a Esquel, me dijeron que no podía perderme de ninguna de las dos lagunas que había por aquí. La primera que había visitado fue la Laguna La Zeta, aprovechando que unos huéspedes también querían visitarla. Por supuesto que después me faltaba la otra, pero a diferencia de la primera vez, en esa oportunidad no conseguí ningún acompañante. Esto no es problema para mí, porque como viajo sola, estoy acostumbrada a paseos en solitario. Si me preguntan si esto me aburre, la respuesta siempre es no 😅.
Besides Laguna La Zeta, the other big lagoon in Esquel is called Willmanco. To get to this lagoon you need a short walk of about 15 minutes starting from the road, unlike La Zeta Lagoon, which has its car park almost at the water's edge. I don't know if this is the reason, but I found this lagoon a bit quieter. In this place there are no services, only several animals running around and several dogs waiting for you to share some of your snack 😅.
Además de Laguna La Zeta, la otra gran laguna en Esquel se llama Willmanco. Para llegar a esta laguna se necesita una pequeña caminata de unos 15 minutos partiendo desde la ruta, a diferencia de la Laguna La Zeta que tiene su estacionamiento casi a orillas del agua. No sé si será ese el motivo, pero encontré a esta laguna un poco más tranquila. En este lugar no hay ningún tipo de servicios, solo varios animales sueltos dando vueltas y también varios perros que esperan que les compartas algo de tu merienda 😅.
A few of the times I set out on solo walks I ended up going out after 3 PM, so the sunset found me a bit fast on the spot. While I only had to walk about 5 km to the Willmanco Lagoon, it seemed that the time flew by and the sun started to go down pretty quickly. To pass my afternoon I had taken a book with me and I was quite entertained with that too. Company is good, but being comfortable in solitude is also good. After all, travelling alone has a lot of that too ❤️.
Alguna de las veces que me propuse hacer paseos en solitario terminé saliendo después de las 3 PM, por lo que el atardecer me encontraba algo rápido en el lugar. Si bien solo tuve que caminar unos 5 km hasta la laguna Willmanco, parece que la hora voló y el sol empezó a bajar bastante rápido. Para pasar mi tarde había llevado un libro y también estuve bastante entretenida con eso. La compañía es buena, pero saber estar cómoda en la soledad también lo es. Después de todo, viajar sola también tiene mucho de eso ❤️.
Southern Argentina can have pleasant temperatures during the day, but when the sun goes down, the climate changes rapidly. When I had decided that the best thing to do was to go back to my flat, I got up to get warm and got a big surprise: the lagoon was completely mirrored. This was something I couldn't see sitting on the grass, but it was clearly visible from a higher angle. With the position of the sun and the calm water, the lagoon had become a giant mirror. It was hypnotic for me who loves reflections, and I stayed there for a long time contemplating the scenery. I couldn't stop looking, it was so beautiful ❤️.
El sur de Argentina puede tener temperaturas agradables durante el día, pero cuando se esconde el sol, este clima cambia rápidamente. Cuando había decidido que lo mejor era ir regresando a mi departamento, me levanté para abrigarme y me llevé una gran sorpresa: la laguna estaba completamente espejada. Esto era algo que no lograba ver sentada en el pasto, pero que claramente se podía ver desde un ángulo más alto. Con esa posición del sol y el agua calma, la laguna se había convertido en un espejo gigante. Era hipnótico para mí que me encantan los reflejos, y me quedé un buen rato contemplando el paisaje. No podía dejar de mirar, era muy hermoso ❤️.
When I went back to my flat and shared with my colleagues what I had seen, they too were surprised. Although they had been in Esquel much longer than I had, they had never seen the mirrored lagoon. This was because it is normal to go early and come back early, but as I left late, I stayed to watch the whole sunset. I was glad I delayed my walk a bit because nature gave me those great views of Willmanco Lagoon: I couldn't have gone at a more ideal time ❤️.
Cuando volví a mi departamento y compartí con mis compañeros de trabajo lo que había visto, ellos también se sorprendieron. Si bien ellos estaban en Esquel hacía mucho más tiempo que yo, nunca habían visto a la laguna espejada. Esto era porque lo normal es ir temprano y volver temprano, pero como yo salí tarde, me quedé a ver todo el atardecer. Me alegró haberme demorado un poco en mi paseo porque la naturaleza me regaló esas grandes vistas de la Laguna Willmanco: no podría haber ido en un momento más ideal ❤️.

It's beautiful, the town of Esquel gives you warmth while you're there, the nature is really beautiful even though it's a small town but it has a great charm. Previously you have been in Laguna la zeta and now a new experience walking to another lagoon and interestingly you choose to walk a long way alone enjoying nature in willmanco while reading. Ahh I can imagine it's something so relaxing and something we'll never find in the city!.
