The first snow of the season has arrived. And it's been quite chaotic here in Sweden. You might think that we are used to it. In a way, yes. But it's unusual that it snows this much in a short amount of time. It's hard for snow-clearing services to keep up. And now it also hit Stockholm, we are not so used to a lot of snow here. I heard on the news that the last time it was this chaotic was 6 years ago, in November 2016. That I remember very well because I was just in Stockholm for one night before boarding my flight to Bangkok. (With kind of no plans to return ever, haha). I was cold because I traveled very lightly and of course, I didn't want to bring any winter clothes. But despite the chaos back then, my flight wasn't canceled and I was off on an adventure 🙂
But this post isn't about that, haha. This is a Wednesday Walk post. I had returned to Stockholm only 2 days before so I really needed to go and buy some groceries. It didn't feel that appealing though, from what I could see looking out of the window (picture below). I know it shows somehow in the pictures but it was really snowing a lot. And it's not so cold outside, like 1-2 degrees Celsius so the snow is very wet and heavy.
This was 2 days ago, last Monday.
But well, I made it outside. And I actually took a detour on my way to the supermarket, thinking this would be great for a Wednesday Walk post 🙂
The stairs are slippery so you have to be careful.
It felt good not to own a car in this weather.
You can still see some boats, and as you can see, the water isn't frozen yet.
And some trees still have green leaves left.
Here I'm close to the supermarket. My jacket was full of snow...
On my way back now, the buildings below are the new apartment buildings they have been building for the past 2 years on my street. They are almost finished now.

So the images above are from around lunchtime. But I actually went out later again, then it was already dark (it gets dark here around 4 pm at the moment). A viewing of my flat was scheduled so my realtor came and I of course had to leave. I actually had an important meeting just after the viewing so I had to get back asap. Therefore, just a short walk again. Now I was lucky because it had temporarily stopped snowing (it started later again though).
It was rather beautiful outside 🙂 Below you see Karlberg Palace on the other side of the water.
And here you actually see the same building as in one of the pictures above. I wanted to take a picture of the old neon commercial sign on the building.

I didn't see anyone on an e-scooter (but a few on bikes).
A very wintery feeling for sure. It won't last. Today it's warmer and raining, turning into sleet. But I guess it will take some time before all of it has melted. That's more the kind of winter we are used to here. Slush. (I'm not a fan).
It was nice to be reminded of my flight to Bangkok 6 years ago. I kind of hoped I would be in Asia again by now. But I'm still trying to sell my flat. The market is very hesitant at the moment. It hasn't been this hard to sell a flat in Stockholm since 2008. ('Normally' a flat like mine would sell within a couple of weeks). But I'm not giving up, of course not.

Thanks for reading 🌸
Love and blessings to you all 💚

What a lovely city. I enjoyed every bit of it:

Ah, I'm glad you liked it 🙂 Much greener in summer, haha.
True - gotta see its white version someday :)
Oh, how I love to see personally the snow.
My friends working abroad always had experience with snow and it's kind of amazing when we hold it and make it a ball.
Yes, snow can be fun of course. We had much more snow in Sweden when I was growing up. Then I was used to one meter of snow, haha.
Haha that's silly one 😊
Oh goodness, its really so beautiful, even though I know it can be a pain. I hope you sell your flat soon - leaving for warmer places seems like a good idea!
This is true for me too. I was born and nowadays I live in Hungary, but I often think about moving to a warmer place/country. I do not like the cold winters. Especially the February. Usually that is the coldest month of the year in Hungary, often below -10 °C, sometimes below -20 °C, and rarely even below 30 °C. Currently it is 6˚C with a quiet rain, so currently it is not that cold.
Thank you, yes I couldn't imagine it would take so long to sell my flat...trying to think that everything happens for a reason.
Kind of envy you for that snow, not the slush though as that is not needed. We don't have snow yet, where I live, but hoping to get some soon. These photos are amazing!
Thank you 🙂 Yes it is rather fun with the snow after all. I hope you'll get some soon ❄️
The snow certainly makes for delightful images. We don't tend to get much of it in Ireland but your bicycle shots put me very much in mind of Amsterdam, where I lived for some years and the utter terror of cycling in ankle-deep snow.
Haha, yes I used to cycle in the snow when I was a student. For some reason it didn't bother me back then.
Oh my goodness that's a lot of snow! I love the feeling of it, but I can't deal with the cold aspect of it.
I hope you're doing good! What are you busy with lately?
I agree. I tend to suffer when it's cold. But I also get used to it somehow. Now it's like 5 degrees Celsius outside and that doesn't feel so cold anymore all of a sudden haha.
What I'm busy with. That's a good question. I do feel rather busy even though I don't 'work' at the moment. I feel rather scattered to be honest. Doing my best to find my inspiration again. Currently doing a training that hopefully will help with that. I guess it's just a bit challenging to make any long-term plans at the moment because I know I'll leave Stockholm as soon as my flat is sold.
I am reading very interesting things in a book about the effect of cold on the body. I mean that's not what the book is about, but there's a passage about cold immersion.
Then there's a whole passage about a study made on hibernating squirrels, but I spare you that part haha.
Oh that's exciting right? Also I hope that your training is going well!
Wow, that's very interesting. It's not for me though, haha. To submerge myself in cold water (even though that's quite common here).
That was also a nice reminder, I studied one semester at Charles University in Prague, long time ago, haha. Had the time of my life.
Haha. Please don't hold back. Always happy to hear your thoughts.
snow can look so beautiful and create lovely winter scenes, nice to see out the window from a warm room, not so fun to have to shovel or clean up and get around in
Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)
Yes exactly, haha. I'm so grateful for having a warm home, especially when it's cold outside.
Beautiful scenery, snow has started to fall, of course people who live in the four seasons have prepared for winter. Like post. Thank you.
Thanks for stopping by, glad you liked my post 🙂
