A verdant peninsula by the Danube

in Wednesday Walklast year

Somewhere on the left bank of a river that slowly flows along Europe towards the Black Sea, a small peninsula appeared many years ago. I am not sure when... maybe some five or six decades ago. I can't remember that unless I use some superpowers to go back in time. You know, like reading some history books or notes, where it would be explained.

However, in order not to weave too many real facts into this story, we will skip the activity of looking for this information and continue with the essential and relevant facts - it is a peninsula, a place where once a river broke through the land and continued to flow. The plants and the forest did not protest, the trees continued to grow and provide shade for other plants and small animals.

Wild boars, beavers, snakes, small foxes, unicorns, dragons and rabbits are sometimes seen. Well, unicorns and dragons are not seen many times, but I guess the forest is hiding them. And let's not mention the myriad of insects. Especially mosquitoes love this area.

Later, people also came. Look, they walked a lot through this forest and little paths were formed.

These paths are perfect for taking Wednesday Walks. Many times I walked here, in my youth, barefoot and with blue fingers. (hey, I am not a Smurf). You can get blue fingers when you pick blackberries. Yes, that IS true, there are many blackberry shrubs in those woods, by the river Danube, you just have to wait for the perfect time. They ripen in August, exactly when the mosquitoes are prepared for a good feast. These little insects like to see the blue ripened blackberries as then they know - humans will come to pick the fruits.

But I went to walk here in July. Instead of mosquitoes, I saw that other people also chose to live, or just spend some time here, in the shade. Seems that the forest was keeping many secrets, caravans and camping places.

IMG_20230714_165508.jpg

How cool it would be to spend days and weeks, away from the city, from the civilisation... Sharing the green natural garden with the aforementioned creatures.

IMG_20230714_165208.jpg

More and more campers appeared, even in the thick carpet of bushes. What does this mean? Why so many of them? Is this peninsula losing its wilderness?

IMG_20230714_165445.jpg

We broke through the last area of trees and saw a completely different landscape...
Words are not needed, we see it from the photo. Ok, ok, the other side was inhabited by small floating houses for some time, but the peninsula was supposed to stay the shelter for our fantastic creatures and just a few people with blue fingers.

IMG_20230714_165714.jpg

Unfortunately, a wide road is growing here, preparing the terrain for more and more campers, people, traffic...

IMG_20230714_170053.jpg

The culprit is found!

Mister Yellow Bulldozer is making these mischiefs in the forest. We should all now cross our fingers that this bulldozer will enjoy the shade of the trees and realize it is a good place to save and not destroy. A good place to take a Wednesday Walk, while there are still tall, green trees and animals.

What a beautiful place to walk and camp, with few people, not many.

But it's getting popular for that peace that everyone desires.

I thought you were cold not smurfing, although on second thoughts you always find a lot of forest on your walks.

@mipiano 😚

I hope it will not be all destroyed with roads and houses 😬 and stay green and just a few people around... but with many plants and little creatures 😊

A nostalgic story from the banks of the Danube. I try to imagine my childhood there, I always wanted to live close to the water...

... but the peninsula was supposed to stay the shelter for our fantastic creatures and just a few people with blue fingers.

Beautiful and moving! It makes me want to cry, you got me thinking about childhood and its lost world.

Thank you!

I have always lived by water... First the river, and now the sea.
The river gives a different feeling, colder nights during the summer, which is great.

Glad that this made you think about your childhood 😃

Many greetings, @bluemoon 😇

Now I have to put you in the category of happy people, those who grew up and live near water, whatever form it takes. I think, I have found from knowing a lady here who grew up in a house by the ocean, that proximity to water bestows a beautiful character, that you are marked for life. I'm glad you had that chance! Thanks a lot, @mipiano!

I was born on the banks of the Danube in the worst winter of the last century, 1954, but I was taken away after only one month of life. Now I live in Bucharest, which is only 60 km from the Danube. I love the Danube and despite many attempts, I have not managed to move closer to it.

Your post touched me and reminded me of this unfulfilled wish of mine. Once again thank you!

Without a doubt, it would be a great place to walk and spend a few days away from the noise of the city.
I love this place surrounded by nature, the ideal place for a Wednesday hike
I appreciate that you share these beautiful photographs, have a beautiful afternoonHow are you dear friend @mipiano good afternoon

A few days, or weeks even. The nights are cooler there in nature, surrounded by a lot of plants and the river. :)

Wild boars, beavers, snakes, small foxes, unicorns, dragons and rabbits are sometimes seen. Well, unicorns and dragons are not seen many times, but I guess the forest is hiding them.

I was hoping to hear about Gnomes or Smurfs sightings but it's a dangerous place with all those critters and dragons 😲

Anyways nice walk I have a similar walk near me where I have to visit soon. No dragons or Unicorns but some Big foots (Sasquatch) that are hidden well. 😁

Hahah, gnomes, forgot about them 😬

Bigfoot? Oh, as well they are hidden?

These creatures like to play hide and seek 🤣

I don't understand how they hide so well being so massive. If you see them and look away for a second they disappear like a fart in the wind. Maybe they are magicians 🤣

I would love to stay like this for a few days in a place surrounded by lots of nature and fantastic creatures. Happiness would be beyond description.

The mosquitoes would perhaps not be a nuisance, if appropriate and natural measures are taken.

Always enjoying these virtual walks.

;)

I am sure you would like to stay there, it is a very nice area.
And I hope it will stay this way and those who brought there Mister Yellow Bulldozer will stop making those roads through the forest...

What a beautiful place, the Danube is beautiful but that garden reminds me of part of the botanical garden here. I love to spend a few days here, I love nature and peace. Few people would be nice!

I fell in love with pictures 2 and 3. Thanks for taking me for a ride! Thank you @mipiano ❤️

I also like those pictures from the forest, so green and calm. And much cooler when the evening comes than our Spanish climate hahaha

Really cooler than the temperatures we are having, I want to go there haha.

There is no doubt that you enjoyed the walk
The place looks very beautiful and it is a nice place to chill

Hopefully, it will stay a nice place to go and chill for a few hours/days/weeks 🙂

It's a nonsense: you try to be in touch with nature, and along comes Mr. Yellow Bulldozer, who "destroys" a wild place to make it human-friendly.
So the question is, do we want to be in nature with the eventual and obvious inconveniences, or do we want the comforts of home even on vacation?
If the question should be the latter, then we don't even need to go on vacation!

Yeah, you are right. Why would we need all the comfort if we are camping there? I was very surprised to see how they made it this year the wider roads, it even goes a lot longer, and they cut a part of the forest where that road passes. Unfortunately.

Well maybe one day you will see a Unicorn there perhaps thats a better option than a dragon

such a beautiful area, hopefully not to many will setup camps and take away from the beauty of the place

Thanks for joining the Wednesday Walk :)

I hope there are also nice dragons haha. Or maybe we need one not-so-nice dragon that would chase away the road workers and the bulldozer :D

yeah a dragon with selective personality, nice for walkers not so much for campers and bull dozers LOL

I hope the animals are still there… including the unicorns 🦄 and dragons 🐉 hehehe 🤭
The floating buildings are cool too 😎
Have a nice week 👋🏻Beautiful walk @mipiano 😊 very cool they made an area to live or spend time in the woods in the shade.

Yes, I hope too. Let's cross our fingers that it will not be populated by humans. Those few campers are cool, but would not be nice to see the area without the forest and all that greenery!
A nice week to you too, @littlebee4 🤗

Indeed… we (humans) don’t need to be everywhere…

Yes, I understand. We need trees 🌳 so much.
Thank you kindly 👋🏻😊

What a wonderful adventure you have lived in that peninsula and Mee particularly fell in love with that story that you narrate at the beginning, since nature always demands its spaces. Your way of writing is delicious, I felt that I was going through those beautiful landscapes so far away from my country, and that I use the translator to understand you. God bless you @mipiano and may life always give you the best.

Sorry that I write just in English but it is good there are translators so you can understand. Thank you for your time, I wish you a very nice evening 😇Thank you @zorajr, I saw that you also walked with Jesús 😇

What a beautiful green land, may I know the schedule of when Dragon and Unicorn made their appearance? I'd like to book a flight and visit there just to see them (人 •͈ᴗ•͈). I'm wondering if they will welcome me with open arms or will the dragon welcome me with it's fire, I'm excited HAHAHAHA.

Kidding aside it is a forest of great greens, it's beautiful, especially the second picture, it looks so rich with vitamins for those green plants in there (≧▽≦)

Oh, they didn't reveal the schedule of appearance. Unfortunately. I guess we would have to be there, for some time and in the moment we don't expect a Dragon or a Unicorn would appear ;)
I suppose it is a friendly Dragon, it would greet Hive users. And chase away the bulldozers :D

It's a nice place to have some walk at the forest but I'm quite scared with big snakes lol. Mostly people really loved to live near the water, right? Even me I want too.

Usually, just small snakes are around there, that are not dangerous for people ;)

Yay! 🤗

A wonderful place for a walk and some rest...

I wouldn't be wrong if you put an enchanted peninsula🥰

Have a nice sunny day ☀️

Absolutely nice and could be enchanted also, yes :))

I wish the same to you and a pleasant weekend 🍀

🤗🧚🌸

Thanks a lot @mipiano 🙂

I wish you a wonderful Sunday ☀️
