This week's Wednesday walk was literally a walk in the clouds. With thunderstorms passing through the area for most of the morning, I decided to take a lunch walk on a nearby bluff to check out a field of prairie wildflowers to photography. Despite the rain and low-hanging rain clouds, the views were refreshing. As was the escape from the recent heat.

Hattie took my wildflower book and hid it somewhere, so I'm at a loss as to what some of these are. I think we took it with us to Viroqua this past weekend; I'm hoping we didn't leave it somewhere.

If we did, I'll just have to buy a new one. As some of you may have read, I'm trying to get better at classifying and identifying wildflowers as the seasons' progress. It's one of those old tucked away hobbies I used to enjoy in school. One of my favorite biology projects was picking wildflowers and then attempting to classify them. I no doubt failed, but hey, I still like the idea of it!

As fantastic as the flowers were, the real beauty of today's was walk was taking photos of the city and marshland below; the fog of the rain and the clouds lingering in the backdrop made the walk pretty cool today. Added bonus: I was the only one on the top of the bluff today too.

So I may (or may not have), snuck down some paths considered off-limits, and took a few more photos of the town below.

I had a feeling today was going to be a bit muddy; I knew it was a good day to hike the Scarpas into work. These boots just keep on kicking...and totally worth it, despite the looks I got from all the new managers at my place of employment. They just don't get it...

That's it for this week's walk! Thanks for stopping by and checking it out! Hoping everyone else had a great Wednesday too, and we'll see you next week.

Sort:

The clouds and mist make fir a mystical feel which I love
Love all the wildflowers

Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk

thanks for stopping by ! another good day for a walk, for certain

👍🙂👍

You've got hills! I'm so jealous. I think Delaware has maybe one hill of any note.

Love the fog!

Sounds like you are ready for a summer road trip - once you get done with the comics, you guys should swing on through

I would love a good, long roadtrip. The farthest I'm getting this year is 4 hours away at Cherry Spring state park in PA. That would be a great deal of fun though!

Dang, are you in Pennsylvania? We have a brewery out there in Latobe.

Ok, we have that brewery in Latrobe, which is a bit away from you. Lots of weird stuff out in that area (UFOS, Bigfoot, High Strangeness) that people have told me about. No idea, however, as I haven't been able to visit.

It's cool to get above the clouds sometimes...Or to see long-hanging clouds. It looks like a legit work. Those boots are legit too. Weren't you thinking of getting some new ones?

Oh yeah...I've wanted to get a pair of leather Scarpas for some time, so I finally ordered them this weekend. I had to cut through the red tape at home though and through it on the secret CC (don't tell Liza, lol).

I can't wait to get away from this job for a week. I figured now was the time to get some comfy new Scarpas broken in before all the hiking up there. Really looking forward to sharing photos of that area, too, with my Hivers!I was telling @cmplxty that we have a trip planned in two weeks to Grand Marais, Minnesota, and

threw it on the secret CC (don't tell Liza

Me: Secrets safe with me...

Also Me: Hey Liza, Sage bought some new Scarpas on the secret credit card account!

Get that trip done mate! I'm pretty jealous really as I've got nothing in the works currently. I was going to go to Cairns, Queensland but it's not looking likely now. I'm a bit bummed about it.

Damn! Cairns looks amazing! You tropical folks...I swear...so much envy
If it's any consolation, there are a lot of ticks up there...and we just medicated Ms. Mabel tonight. North North America is beautiful but so many pests

I lived there for a while. We call in FNQ, Far North Queensland. The Great Barrier Reef is off the coast and it's tropical. A legit place. Loads of shit that wants to kill you though, crocs, irukandji, snakes, wild boars, sharks, sea snakes and all...Still, a great spot.

#dontgetanyticks

ha!...my biggest worry is ticks, and the occasional Minnesota Viking fan (OMG, don't get me started), that wants to tell me his/her life story. That experience might be worse than a crocodile, possibly...if I have to listen to another Minnesota football team vs Aaron Rodgers at a Burger King...so help me god...

Bloody Minnesota fans...Just don't let on you're a cheesehead although they'll probably hear the accent and know?

Wow look at that view from up there, it’s beautiful even with the fog and all.

That’s a cool hobby you have with identifying wild flowers. My family just started birding and it’s been fun viewing our bird guide to identify them.

Thanks for sharing your lovely walk ~

Thanks for stopping by and the kind words!

Birding is something we've slowly been getting into with our daughter too. She loves looking at the cardinals in our back yard, and we're actually close to a swampland that has a ton of water birds. I've been debating on a camera upgrade soon, and if that happens, I really am hoping to get some wonderful photos of the birds in this area. Dreaming here on a Thursday, at least!

Thanks again for stopping by!

You’re welcome ;)

Cardinals (mainly the male ones) are one of my kiddos favorite birds to watch! Oh wow I would love to see water birds. I will be looking forward to seeing what you capture. We live near a wooded forest area and we see all kinds of wildlife out there. We love hearing all of the birds sing in the mornings :)

Enjoy the rest of your Thursday ~
