Chicago is known as the windy city so when you get a -8 degree day the wind will drop it even lower than that.
I almost wanted to sneak in here with the cherry picker to hang a new ornament to escape the cold.
These fake stones are frozen solid. I suspect if you sat on one you would get stuck to it.
The CME building looks cold inside too. All this nice large glass makes it tough to heat.
I suspect the rider of this divvy scooter froze and fell off somewhere a mile back, it finally settled here against this sign post.
This is the halfway point to my office, I almost need a break to sit here and warm up a bit.
Waiting at the lights is the worst during this kind of weather. Huge gusts of wind chill you while you wait. Fortunately this early the streets are empty so you can usually ignore the light.
The opera house is gearing up for valentine's day now.
All the people going to the opera house better wear their parkas instead of skimpy fancy fur coats to avoid this cold.
Now its off to work where its warm. Lunch break will be just as cold but with more people walking around. That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)

These are morning photos,it stays quite dark here late and gets dark early.
City conditions worse in cold season, delightfully clear air for photography with no people scurrying around.
Wind chill factor always has to be added in, go around a corner gusting wind travels through takes your breath away....

The heavy wind makes some of the building openings sound like wind chimes. Cold blasting winds really clear up my tear ducts, by the time I'm inside it looks like I've been crying.
One can imagine how it bites right through even wearing the right layers on some days.
I need some extra large skiing goggles to block the wind.
Comfort comes first, go do it!

I know what the wind feels like NYC is also called by many the windy city, but Brrr that is so cold, I am glad to be retired and not have to venture out in it at this time of year
some cool shots and now stay warm, days like this I feel for those who have to work outdoors

Here in chicago we only have the polar bear plunge once a year, this guy does this all the time, too much cold therapy lol.

Happy #wednesdaywalk The cold has finally hit here. Coldest day so far yesterday. Haven't topped freezing in awhile now...
It was brutal this morning but then the snow warmed things up. I hope the worst is past us this year. But who knows it might be a nice april day and we get hit with a polar vortex randomly.
