We went to a different farm for raw milk on this #wednesdaywalk by @tattoodjay

This is a grass fed farm with poultry and dairy cows. My wife wanted to get some raw milk to pasteurize so its for fresh for our daughter.

You head up to a little shack to buy it. You kind of have to reserve a spot because everyone buys it out within an hour.

Now its time to visit the other animals like these turkeys. They are all getting fattened up for Thanksgiving.

We haven't tried getting one of their turkey's yet but I suspect they might be a little more lean than a store bought butterball as these guys are cage free and don't have butter injected into their veins.

Out in the boonies this is the ambulances you see. It would take much too long to try and drive someone to the hospital out here.

There are plenty of free range chickens here too. We did end up getting a frozen chicken from the farm store and some eggs.

They are free range as well and not too tame unlike the ones at the other show farm we visit.

On the way back we spotted some draft horses. Poor things were getting pestered by flies. I even saw a huge inch long gadfly. Those things are awful biters.

As usual I spotted more mushrooms. This #fungifriday will be loaded with lots of new mushroom finds.

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)

I love this farm that you have visited, it is very peaceful, in addition to the beautiful farm animals
Getting fresh milk for the girl is a great idea. @sketch.and.jam

She really loved the grassfed milk and seemed to get a bit hyper after drinking it lol.

Cool trip. Nice to get close to the source of your food. Getting raw milk to pasteurize? thats a new one on me. I know raw milk is popular and hard to get in some places. There was a dairy that sold raw milk in the parking lot of one of our stores once a week and it was a mob scene. Sold out immediately.

Yeah my wife pasturized it as she got paranoid about lysteria last minute. I wonder how common it really is many people drank raw milk when I was growing up no problem.

Basically, be there at milking time and observe procedures and cleanliness. Inquire about procedures for testing, etc. This way you will know how the milk is handled and whether they've ever had a problem with listeria, etc.

Good to know, they just had a huge sign warning about listeria where they pour it out of a large vat into glass bottles.

Relaxing country walk, wonderful views across the fields, love those chickens they are stunning!

I wish I knew more about the various chicken breeds. The black outlined feathers are nice and bold.

Those are exceptionally handsome chooks possibly Black Laced Silver Wyandotte, turkeys should taste better than those bought in shops I would place an order for one already.
