RE: #SummerInJapan: Going To Atami Sun Beach

in Wednesday Walk • 2 years ago

It's starting to get colder now so Autumn is really here, but I'm still sweating when I go out sometimes so for me, it's not yet fully Autumn. 😂 That's my indication the season has changed hahaha

I like Atami so much! Beach and onsen and so many ryokan - they are just perfect for a quick getaway. Lots of climbing - true, if I live here, I will be forced to exercise. I like walking but not climbing. 😂 But still, I like this place.

Walking along the waterfront, did you see the statue of the fellow kicking the girl?

I can't remember anything like that. I might have missed it! What book is it? Now I'm curious.

Here's the statue:

It's a scene from Konjiki Yasha by Ozaki Koyo. You can read a brief summery of the story here

Thank you! It's pretty popular. I tried looking for it in the maps and so many people had their photos taken in the statue.
I got now why I wasn't able to see it. I was not walking in this area. I was walking in the beach so I failed to see the famous statue.

The story seems interesting. It's just sad the book wasn't finished.
