Greetings, pilots! Another cycle has ended and so it is time to compensate the citizen scientists who contributed animal data for the bioblitz.
One of my men on Casrarene being attacked from afar by the Abeausa's Dangerous Long Breath .
The task was simple: depict one of your planetary animals using its special attack and provide some information on it. However, only two captains submitted reports. Although the new galaxy is teeming with strange and diverse life, perhaps not as many people escaped the devastation as we thought and lived to see them. Or maybe everyone is focused on looking for ore and minerals, deploying prefabs, or other colony actions.
A Nianuo, native to Atoa.
The first pilot to contribute to the cause was the pilot, @sckoarn. He spent over 14 Galactic Standard Hours hunting and studying the Nianuo from afar, without provoking it. Critter cams set up by his crew captured video of the small animal and how agile it can be. Ultimate move: Ninja Original Invasive Psychic Stare. Yes, that's right. If you ever find yourself on Atoa and see a cute yellowish creature, don't look into its eyes! Else you'll be paralyzed! For more details on this fantastic creature, see here.
The Large Efhosa, a tunneling beast from Muneerane.
Just as we were about to power down our receivers (so as to not be detected by any nefarious sentient beings out there) we received a transmission from our very own π [MELN] @veryanprime! He warns us of a very aggressive creature, perhaps slighlty bigger than the Nianuo, that is present everywhere on his planet and is determined to attack and devour his entire crew. How does it attack? It uses its Powerful Dangerous Catapult upon its target. See the full entry for a glimpse of it engaging with a "dummy".
Prizes
And now we will reveal the secret rewards for participating in the contest!
Best Attack - Rekatron Fireworks
Best Design - The Kumicho
Funniest - TOM Beauty Capsule
On top of that, each participant will also receive an Autoguided Ammo.
Prizes sponsored by leader of π [MELN], @birdbeaksd.
Furthermore, @elindos has generously donated an Alpha Booster Pack for each winner!
So without further ado, let us announce the winners!
Drumroll, please!
....................................
The best attack is...
The Nianuo's Ninja Original Invasive Psychic Stare! That's nightmare fuel, that is. Congratulations, @sckoarn! Use those fireworks with caution.
Best design goes to...
@veryanprime's rendition of the Large Efhosa, complete with anatomical data. We present you a Kumicho. Treat her well and don't look her directly in the eyes.
Funniest entry?
@sckoarn you are lucky! You won this category, too!
Your discovered animal looks so cute but one look into those big adorable eyes and you've got a debilitating case of paralysis. That in itself was funny. Maybe it's the irony. But also watching the actual footage of the creature was quite amusing for me personally, I have to admit. (Don't take that the wrong way!) You will soon own a Beauty Capsule with which to lock your paralyzed victims in until they feel 100% better.
I feel a little bad that one of our contestants won an extra prize more than the other so I will be sponsoring a small consolation prize from my own collection for our runner-up. I hope it serves you well. I already had plans to give this out to a random participant and now this makes the most sense.
This will not be the last our community contests. I only wish that more pilots had taken part. I bet now you wish you participated, don't you?
Prizes will be sent shortly. Enjoy!

I am thankful for the prizes. Something for my time spent, though to tell you the truth it was an excuse for learning more about Scratch 3. I have played with several drawing packages like blender, Unity, Free3D and a couple others. Some much more complicated than others, blender being way up there. Scratch 3 is on the Raspberry Pi which I just got for my 4 year old grandson. So, I would have to know to be able to show.
I too am a little disappointed that there were not enough entries. Winning when there are so few entries does not feel so much like a win. Nothing to compare to, so, was my stuff any good? I wonder what others could have created?
So, I hope some take a few moments to check out Scratch 3. It is very good, and you can learn to do things really fast. Youtubes are usually about 6 min. I watched about 45 min worth and one of the presenters was for sure under 7 years old. And while you are creating you are also learning to program, even if you do not know it.
Again, Many thanks for the prizes.
Best
I highly recommend Krita as a drawing package. Essentially a free, open-source version of photoshop. It is what was used to create the π [MELN] logo.
There is no way to know for sure, but I still think you would have won Best Attack and Funniest because I personally loved your entry. The simple animation of your cat walking around and then distorting and destroying the background as it stares at the camera was hilarious.
If we do something like this again, I hope you continue to participate!

Hmm... ill have to look into krita as well... anything is better than paint.
That being said, i really love pixel studio on my tablet... the pc version isnt as good though.
I agree with birdbeaksd and also think that had there been more entries, you still would have won Best Attack! It was a unique attack and the presentation was great (and amusing)!
I can't wait to see more examples of your work in the future.
No question at all about funniest. I definitely chuckled when i watched.
Woohoo! Congrats on the overall win @sckoarn ! You deserve it! Your entry was great!
You did great as well, Veryan. I really liked how you drew an anatomical chart of your wildlife.
!PIZZA
Yes yours was very cool Veryan. I can imagen it in Scratch 3, it would look amazing with the base illustration in your presentation, it would be easy to do. The animation of the jump attack would be so much fun :)
Hmm... ill have to take a look at scratch!
I hadn't heard of it before.
