RE: Cunning, hedonistic & manipulative - say Hi! to Baron Vladimir Harkonnen || FanArt

so you're gonna laugh.... because when Dune came out I was young and hadn't read the book ..but my mom and her sisters had...and so when they played the movie, I watched.

so my first introduction to this world was that movie...I knew nothing about it and it was so confusing...but I NEVER forgot the scene with the Baron. (remember when he opened up that guys heart valve and bathed himself in the blood?!? ughhhhh)

so I usually read your post first and get lost in the writing ..and THEN go to the art.

today I started at the art! hehehe and while I was scrolling I was like...is that.?? that looks like.... wait it has to be.... THE BARON! hahahaa and sure enough...it was lol

I didn't know any of the back story to the movie. I actually never watched it again and I didn't watch the remake (was it really worth it?) hehehe. but now you have me super interested in actually reading the books!!! but I'm currently reading one and two more are on the list and I NEED to finish one I started and got distracted from months ago!!! hahahah and I think this one is a big commitment yeah??? what do you think??? still worth it?!? I have to know !!! hahaha

and as always...the art...

to die for 🤯

p.s. I cannot WAIT for... 🙊🙊🙊🙊🙊🙊🙊🙊🙊🙊🙊🙊🙊🙊🙊🙊🤩

I am so glad you like this one too! That is most important to me:) and I am glad you recognized the character! yeah!

Unfortunately Lynch's move was an absolute disaster, but has moments there, of course.
He featured Baron as a monster, and although he was definitely one of the greatest villains of the book, I think to make him this ugly to show his 'inside ugliness' is just lazy. Plus he(Harkonnen) was cruel, but he was killing quietly and usually using somebody else's hands to do 'the job'.

The books are absolutely great, especially the first 4(Dune (1965), Dune Messiah (1969), Children of Dune (1976), God Emperor of Dune (1981))
Don't bother of reading what Herbert's son has written - it is just mediocre writing at most, based on greediness, no doubt.

But just so you know - it is not an easy read. But what is most important - if you read those book, you will see how many writers, filmmakers, comic books artists was plainly copying Herbert's ideas. Books are old, but still current somehow, even though it is sci-fi:)

New Dune movie is certainly worth to watch, plot is quite accurate to the books and scenography, costumes, music and landscapes are wonderful!
