RE: Cunning, hedonistic & manipulative - say Hi! to Baron Vladimir Harkonnen || FanArt

I am so glad you like this one too! That is most important to me:) and I am glad you recognized the character! yeah!

Unfortunately Lynch's move was an absolute disaster, but has moments there, of course.
He featured Baron as a monster, and although he was definitely one of the greatest villains of the book, I think to make him this ugly to show his 'inside ugliness' is just lazy. Plus he(Harkonnen) was cruel, but he was killing quietly and usually using somebody else's hands to do 'the job'.

The books are absolutely great, especially the first 4(Dune (1965), Dune Messiah (1969), Children of Dune (1976), God Emperor of Dune (1981))
Don't bother of reading what Herbert's son has written - it is just mediocre writing at most, based on greediness, no doubt.

But just so you know - it is not an easy read. But what is most important - if you read those book, you will see how many writers, filmmakers, comic books artists was plainly copying Herbert's ideas. Books are old, but still current somehow, even though it is sci-fi:)

New Dune movie is certainly worth to watch, plot is quite accurate to the books and scenography, costumes, music and landscapes are wonderful!
