All I can think of when it comes to Taylor Swift is red dress. Florence and the Machine is a yes.
Garbage?
Dead Can Dance?
Nina Simone?
Nils Petter Molvær?
Sean Ryan, particularly with ATB?

Garbage = Yes
The rest of your list, haven't heard of at all.
The rest of the list, if you like trumpet, well, this man, Nils Petter Molvaer, has some kind of magic going on and literally makes his trumpet talk.
I'm a sucker for vocals and especially, the minor d scale, particularly when played on a guitar :D
That's why metal dominates - it uses that scale a lot.
That's so impressively specific. There's only three things I don't like in terms of music. Selection is dependent on the present moment. About 95 percent of the time now, I only listen to whatever sounds are around me.
I'm no student of music but once I realised what it was I liked, I had to identify and classify it. It must be the data analyst in me.
I'd never call myself a student of music either, rather a deep love of music.
That's so funny. Gave me shiver memories of acting that role at the last big corpse I worked for. I say "corpse" because they called all employees "bodies" openly. I
I am perpetually delayed in my responses to everyone these days. It's getting more difficult to reincarnate back in matter. Can't blame dill this time.
Enjoy corporeal reality. I'd argue it is sweeter than this virtual one.
That's some good shit right there! When I first heard Nina Simone I thought I have a stroke :D
Garbage is just must have on playlist next to Siouxsie And The Banshees.
With Dead Can Dance I can go for weeks, Sean Ryan is too mellow for me tbh, but lovely voice, Nils Petter Molvær is perfectly decadent!
😂 Nina Simone....oh what can I say, yeah, first time I heard her she got me forever.
I've listened to Siouxsie And The Banshees but I don't think I have any of theirs in my collection.
Dead Can Dance are in their own category. Saw them live once and well, of all the concerts I've been to, that was the only one that defies description, other than to say it was like going on a journey while being part of the actual music. Transcending the ordinary. So hard to describe.
Sean Ryan mellow, yes, but as you noted, it's his voice, kind of blew my mind when I heard it. Perhaps if he had the space to develop the way he wants, he'd grow into more.
Nils (NPM) is a new one to me as of last year. I remember listening to his music for a couple minutes (online dj friend) and thinking, Who is this man who makes magic with a trumpet? 😂
I'm afraid to get into a conversation about music because I know that way I'll be stuck on the hive for hours :D
Agree to all what you've said. I actually remember when I've heard Chuck Mangione first time, and it actually hit me, how ingenious trumpet as as musical instrument is and how many ways it can be used by a talented musician:)
Ha! I'm guilty of extended conversations with just about anything. I have always limited how much time in front of a screen to balance that out. Don't know why, something about the tech itself causes me to feel unwell if using it for too long.
Yes, that's right about a trumpet. It's a bit deceptive that's it's just this instrument until it shines in gifted hands. Wind instruments in particular fascinate me, probably because I suck badly when attempting to play them.
I really enjoy conversations that lead to surreal, crazy conclusions:)
It is an extremely difficult instrument actually, and it requires a great deal of breathing exercises and stuff, so don't give up, you'll get there!
Too late, I already gave up. Never tried a trumpet....just flute type wind instruments, which showed me quickly that it's not a match and yes, difficult. Stringed instruments mesh with me, minus piano, terrible finger span is why.
I have short fingers, I've learned this hard way while I was trying to learn to play guitar 🤣 I will get back to it one day, I just hate to be defeated like this :)
Love all string instruments, don't have preferences really. Just love real music, preferably live shows. And jamming, I am always incredibly jealous when skilled musician can improvise:)
