Hello from Senmaya Town, Ichinoseki City, Iwate Prefecture. Yesterday I woke up at 5:00 a.m. and went to take photos of Shirahata Shrine next to my mother's parents' house. It is the home of the head priest of the shrine. The effects of climate change are also affecting this rural town. In the past, it used to be nice and cool in the early morning, but yesterday there was a humid and uncomfortable heat, and I realized that it is hot everywhere in Japan now.
However, early morning is somewhat better. Higurashi (cicads) are singing sporadically. The higurashi is a cicada that chirps early in the morning and at dusk. They are my favorite cicada.
Today, I upload five photos. First is the torii gate of Shirahata Shrine. It was built by Minamoto no Yoshitsune./今日は5枚、写真をアップします。まずは白幡神社の鳥居。源義経が建立しました。
Going upstairs./階段を登っていきます。
There is two guardian lion statues at the top of the stairs./狛犬さんが階段の上の方に鎮座しています。
This is the main hall of the shrine. It is a magnificent building considering it is in the countryside./神社の本堂がこれです。田舎にあるにしては立派な建物です。
If you go further to the right of the shrine, you will see a small path leading up to it. When I was a child, I would go on adventures and walk along this path./神社の右脇からさらに進むと小道が続くのがわかります。子どもの頃は冒険して、この小道を歩いていきました。
So what do you think? I hope you get a sense of the atmosphere of a rural Japanese shrine. It's like a scene from the Studio Ghibli movie "My Neighbor Totoro."

岩手県一関市千厩町からこんにちは。昨日の話ですが昨日は朝5時に起きて家の隣にある白幡神社の写真を撮りに行きました。神社の神主の家ですから。気候変動の影響はこの田舎町にもあって、昔は早朝はひんやりとした涼しい空気が気持ちよかったですが、昨日は湿度の高い不快感のある暑さがあって、今は日本はどこも暑いんだなと思いました。
しかし、早朝はいくらかましです。ヒグラシ（セミ）が散発的に鳴いています。ヒグラシは早朝と夕暮れ時に鳴くセミです。好きなセミです。
さてどうでしょうか。日本の田舎の神社の雰囲気が少しはおわかりいただけたでしょうか。スタジオジブリの映画「となりのトトロの1シーン」のようです。
