Hello anime lovers. Today I want to talk to you about a japanese anime series that was aired just last year but quickly achieved such a high popularity that it is currently considered one of the best "RomCom" nowadays. Whether it's because of its characters, humor or its incredible drawing/animation style, this anime fascinated me quite a bit and here I'll tell you why. Based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Norio Sakurai, this anime adaptation was produced by Shin-Eli Animation studio. Currently, with already two seasons and a total of 25 episodes, this anime has managed to easily position itself among my "Top 10 Best Romantic Comedy Anime", which is not easy with so much competition nowadays.

Plot
The anime introduces us to Kyotaro Ichikawa, a high school student who is always alone at school. Isolated from society, Kyotaro constantly thinks of ways to kill several of his classmates, who are the most famous in the classroom. Among them is Anna Yamada, who is the most popular in school as an Idol, with whom the protagonist fantasizes a lot while always reading a book that talks about death and murder. Her cold and threatening aura makes no one get close to him, however, this does not prevent Ichikawa and Yamada from meeting more often than usual.
Among these encounters are those of both of them in the school library, a place where Anna frequents to sneak sweets that she brings to school without permission. Ichikawa discovers her, but he tries to dissimulate while reading elsewhere. However, he sees in her a very different personality from the one she shows in front of people, a somewhat childish, gluttonous and affectionate attitude. As time goes by, she grows to trust him, while he doesn't tell anyone about his secret that he eats on the sly in the library (which is forbidden, by the way). This relationship that is born of these two young people will gradually evolve into something more interesting.

El anime nos presenta a Kyotaro Ichikawa, un estudiante de secundaria que se la pasa siempre solo en la escuela. Aislado de la sociedad, Kyotaro piensa constantemente sobre diversas formas de cómo matar a varios de sus compañeros de clase, los cuales son los más famosos del salón. Entre ellos está Anna Yamada, quien es la más popular de la escuela al ser una Idol, con quien el protagonista fantasea bastante mientras lee siempre un libro que habla de muertes y asesinatos. Su aura fría y amenazante hace que ninguno se acerque a él, sin embargo, esto no evita que Ichikawa y Yamada se encuentren más seguido de lo normal.

And in this case we are not only talking about a simple romantic comedy that we can usually see from many other anime that are broadcast annually in the East and the world, but we are witnessing what can become one of the best told stories of typical teenage love. Yes, it is a cliché that repeats itself, but it doesn't only stay with that since the way it is made, either for its animation, soundtrack or even for the way it transmits each of the emotions it tries to show us is what makes it special.
Of course, the story we see in this anime series revolves around Anna Yamada and Kyotaro Ichikawa, which can easily be the typical young couple that will live the typical school love story that we have surely already seen in the typical anime of this genre. What can give it some credence and interest is possibly the characters themselves, Yamada being more than just a famous Idol, as well as Ichikawa who is not just the lonely otaku boy in his class. Both have a personality that you can easily get attached to, either by Anna who is a kind, innocent and gluttonous girl who only seeks to have fun but that her talent and responsibilities she has of an adult life at such a young age limits her from things she wants to do like loving; as well as Kyotaro who is a young man who feels an unnecessary hatred for popular people, but that by getting closer to Anna has begun to feel something that he can not express freely because of the distance they both have from living two completely different lives.

Si bien como amante de las historias de amor, ver una obra animada como esta es de por sí una maravilla audiovisual. Es la historia, los personajes y los momentos lo que hacen especial este anime, el cual desde ya recomiendo a todo que comparta la misma pasión por las comedias románticas. Y es que en este caso no solo estamos hablando de una simple comedia romántica que generalmente podemos ver de muchos otros animes que anualmente se emiten en oriente y el mundo, sino que estamos presenciando lo que puede llegar a ser una de las historias mejores contadas de los típicos amores adolescentes. Si, es un cliché que se repite, pero no solo se queda con eso ya que la forma en la que está hecha, ya sea por su animación, banda sonora o incluso por la forma en la que transmite cada una de las emociones que intenta demostrarnos es lo que lo hace especial.
Por supuesto, la historia que vemos en esta serie animada gira en torno a Anna Yamada y Kyotaro Ichikawa, los cuales fácilmente pueden ser la típica pareja de jóvenes que vivirán la típica historia de amor escolar que seguramente ya hemos visto en los típicos animes de este género. Lo que puede darle un poco de crédito e interés es posiblemente los mismos personajes, siendo Yamada más que una simple Idol famosa, como también Ichikawa que no solo es el chico solitario y otaku de su clase. What I love most about this anime, apart from its obvious animation quality and its Openings, is the special way of portraying moments and scenarios that, in real life may be normal, but in this story are like the "Peak" of the series. While it is true that this anime has been criticized for being "slow" in terms of the development of its story (besides criticizing it also for the alleged "high fanservice" it has), it is actually the essence or the way in which such moments become special in this plot. The way both protagonists act in various situations, the way they both start to be together and relate more and more until they become friends, the way the protagonist thinks as he gets to know more and more the girl he is seeing in the school library, the way she treats him unlike the others. All this and more are details that give meaning to every moment that passes between these two lovebirds in love.
And of course, like any romantic comedy, it should not miss that dose of humor that this anime has, the double entendre jokes, awkward moments and funny scenes that we see throughout this anime give it that funny touch that never hurts anyone. Lastly, let's talk about the animation, which is something sublime and fantastic that I love about this anime, giving it that plus that is always worth in every love story. The fluidity, the quality, the details, the expressions, the color palette and the effects that this masterpiece has is something to just shut up, watch and enjoy. The soundtrack, of course, is an excellent companion in this case, perfectly conveying every feeling and sensation we see in every moment or scenario. In short, a masterpiece in terms of animation, story and characters, recommended for any fan of romantic comedies.
Personally, I give it a 9.5/10 rating as far as the romantic comedy genre is concerned.

Lo que más me encanta de este anime, aparte de su evidente calidad de animación y sus Openings, es la forma tan especial de retratar momentos y escenarios que, en la vida real puede ser normal, pero que en esta historia son como el “Peak” de la serie. Si bien es cierto que este anime ha sido criticado por ser “lento” en cuanto al desarrollo de su historia (aparte de criticarla también por el supuesto “alto fanservice” que tiene), en realidad es la esencia o la forma en la que dichos momentos se vuelven especiales en esta trama. La forma de actuar de ambos protagonistas en diversas situaciones, la manera en la que ambos empiezan a estar juntos y a relacionarse más y más hasta convertirse amigos, la forma de pensar del protagonista al conocer cada vez más a la chica con la que está viéndose en la biblioteca de la escuela, la forma en la que ella lo trata a diferencia de los demás. Todo esto y más son detalles que le dan sentido a cada momento que pasa entre estos dos tórtolos enamorados.
Y claro, como toda comedia romántica, no debe de faltar esa dosis de humor que tiene este anime, las bromas de doble sentido, los momentos incómodos y las escenas graciosas que vemos a lo largo de este anime le dan ese toque divertido que nunca hace mal a nadie. Por último, hablemos de la animación, lo cual es algo sublime y fantástico que me encanta de este anime, dándole ese plus que siempre vale en toda historia de amor. La fluidez, la calidad, los detalles, las expresiones, la paleta de colores y los efectos que tiene esta obra maestra es algo que hay que callar, ver y disfrutar nomás. La banda sonora, por supuesto, es un excelente acompañante en este caso, transmitiendo perfectamente cada sensación y sentimiento que vemos en cada momento o escenario. En fin, una obra maestra en cuanto a animación, historia y personajes, recomendada para todo fanático de comedias románticas.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 9.5/10 en lo que respecta al género de la comedia romántica.
