I see the trouble above, behind, and to the sides, waiting, closing in, tightening the ropes until you can't breath. Until you can't exhale. Trouble comes in all sizes, shapes, and colors as external stressors. As such, we mustn't allow them to overwhelm us. Cast them from your shoulders. Toss them aside. Sometimes the burdens become so weary, we try to hide them under the guise of "makeup". Once you remove the makeup, troubles are still there. Be of good cheer!

I completely agree with you. I think the notion is that you can't get anywhere when you always look broken down. There was a period when my mother was growing up, things got tough financially due to an economic crash. Next to food, my grandmother would always make sure there was soap and detergent so her kids would always look clean and neat. That's where the phrase came from.😂 Like positivity and defiance.
