Thunder cunts!

Farmers markets are where I prefer to shop; there's a few I frequent which provide much better quality than I can find in the supermarkets and while it's more costly I'll pay for better quality. I can't always get exactly what I need though, so am forced to shop at supermarkets.

A couple kilometres from where I live is an award winning (family owned) legit-as-fuck gourmet supermarket; that sounds expensive and it is, but the quality is amazing. Having said that, I split my supermarket shopping between there and one of the two national major supermarket chains...which isn't so amazing.

The national chain represent themselves as being all about their customer and local suppliers however that's a lie proven over and over again through their treatment of suppliers plus their misleading and false representations when it comes to pricing...which the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) don't take kindly to.

Recently the supermarket were called out, after a lengthy investigation, for misrepresentation and false and misleading practices - both against the law under the Trade Practices Act (TPA) - and it's going to cost them.

They have a marketing concept called "everyday low prices" where popular products are reduced to "low" prices permanently. That sounds fucken amazing right?

Here's the thing...what they were actually doing was/is inflating the product's original price it, let's say by 30%, and leaving it at that increased price for a month or so before reducing it from that increased price down by only 10% then putting it on their "every day low prices" list. So, the "every day low price" is actually a price that's 20% more than the original price, so not fucken low at all.

They got caught out on 266 products and the ACCC are now taking them to court and, unsurprisingly, the other national supermarket chain was caught out doing the same thing on 245 products...those fucking pair of thunder cunts!

The supermarkets I mention here have 1,140 and 840 stores respectively and most of the population shop there from week to week in some capacity...that's a lot of revenue they're pulling in with their misleading thunder-cunt behaviours.

People go through life largely oblivious to so many of the little ways in which governments or corporations fuck them over and for every one that gets caught ten get away with it I suppose. It sucks really, but unfortunately that's the way it is...the little people (that's you and me) get fucked over. The sad part of that is that the people fucking us over are just other people acting for the corporations and governments. Human beings are fucked up huh?

I hate such THUNDERCUNTAGE! These companies are cynical as fuck and I hope they get punished bad by regulators

Thundercuntery is on the rise and as economic pressures increase so will thundercuntage. And the little folk like you and I will bear the brunt.

(Note: We're not little folk at all...Titans! Just wanted to be modest.)

Modesty is good for the little folk but Titans need no such thing. Down with THUNDERCUNTERY!

Only thunder cunts like thundercuntery; predictable really. 😬

They are a plague upon mankind!

Indeed...often salty too.

And as everyone knows, there is nothing worse than a salty thundercunt

I have been feeling pretty Titanic lately... Oh wait.

Well no don't wait. Maybe that is true also. I am a Titan on the Fucking Titanic.

Haha, yeah that was the plan. There's too much bullshit around here these days and not as much fun as there used to be so what the fuck, might as well do as I please.

Not surprising.

One of the main supermarkets around here have a thing where there is a little sign that says something like WOW!...low price blahblahblah. Well.... there is nothing special about the price and they are all over and even my 90 year old Mother has commented on how stupid do they think we all are as there is nothing special about the pricing, so, they are doing the same thing here too.

It's terrible now instead of having to be alert for the rare scam/lie/false advertising, it's almost impossible to find an honest, quality & reliable business.

Pretty sad !

It's incredible to think these supermarkets can take us all for fools as they do, but they do, over and over. It's the same in other industries as well, telecommunications, insurance, health, automotive and so on...I think we allow it to some extent. Take the supermarkets I mention above for example...if everyone banded together and ceased shopping there for a month, I mean everyone, they'd change there tune pretty quickly.

In the old days the townsfolk would band together brandishing flaming torches and pitchforks and make a stand against the "tyranny" like the miners did at the Eureka Stockade Rebellion but nope, we just bend over and take it (figuratively speaking) and so they keep doing what they do.

Sad and pathetic.

We just got an Aldi down the road from us and I have often been impressed by a lot of their offerings. It's not where we get the majority of our groceries, but those Germans are doing a few things right :) I wish we lived in a climate that was more conducive to year round farmers markets.

Yep, we have Aldi all over the country as well and they do a pretty good job of using local suppliers and their pricing isn't too bad. I shop there now and then and have generally been content with the quality as well.

My friend, who moved to Australia 15 years ago, came to Serbia for an annual vacation a few years ago. When she left for the trip, they forgot to bring a suitcase with shoes for all the guests and had to buy shoes in Belgrade.
She enters a store from a well-known chain of sports equipment and on the racks with sneakers as the latest model,
She sees the same sneakers that she forgot to bring, which she bought a year before in Perth. The price, of course, for the "Top" model.

I like to wear Mark&Spencer shirts.
I used to buy them here at a price of €49.
When the discounts started, the price was reduced to €29.
And abroad, when there are discounts, for the same shirt, they lower the price first from €29 to €25, then to €19 and finally to €15.
These are discounts, not theft like here in Serbia.
I bought one jacket at the spring sale for €30.
Before the beginning of autumn, the same jacket in the same store, I am looking at the price of €110.
It's crazy what they do with the prices.
You just have to be smart and buy when you don't have an urgent need, which is a bit tricky for food. That's why it's much better to buy food directly from the producer, who has the opportunity.

Yep, but when you need things and not when you want things which is a good way of avoiding overspending. ✅

How bad it is about misleading offers, and it is worse to be involved in legal matters

Yep, it happens in so many industries and the average person like you and I are usually the ones who have to suffer.

We use box divvy, maybe take a look in?

Cheers, I'll take a look!

That's what happens in Argentina, they talk about low prices and what they do is increase them and then give a discount and not only that but until a year ago inflation was tremendous and the indexes that measured it lied... they said that there was no inflation... who believes that?

Here, I have tried almost all the supermarkets, some of them do that... but the national supermarket never makes offers, it is more honest and the quality is very good, I can't complain about that.

I'm sure this sort of thing happens in every country.

It's a global thing, sales strategies.

I had a group with 2 other friends, where we called ourselves ThunderCunts, thanks for reminding me haha xD

Haha, great name!

Yes! It was fun times! haha

Hi Galen, one more sample of the world we inhabit. Little more I can add.

Yep, enough said right?

one can always say more, for example talk about the complicity of regulators on many occasions..., but to end the year, and not get angry. It is more than enough 😃

The problem is that words don't have any effect, it will take action on a wide scale for stuff like this to be stopped. They'll pay their fines out of the many multi-millions they make in profit and get to scamming people in other ways. Same old story.

Same old story.

That's it, have a great weekend.
