It looks like a hikers emergency whistle...and it is. This is one of mine and it usually lives in the hiking daypack I have in my four wheel drive. It's designed to be used in the advent of being lost, to bring attention to oneself so that search and rescue personnel can more easily locate a lost soul. It's loud, very loud in fact, and that's how it's supposed to be.
A couple days ago I retrieved it from my daypack and brought it inside and placed it next to my computer. Why you ask? Well, through necessity, I've had to re-purpose it as a weapon of mass destruction.
OK, maybe mass destruction isn't the right term...Possibly I should say, scam-caller deterrent or possibly, scam-caller fuckerupperer.
You see, last night I received a call from a mobile phone number, answered and there was a foreign-type person on the other end trying to convince me my internet service was not working (I was using on my computer as she said that) and that I'd need to provide her some details to rectify the issue. She cited the internet provider I use (which was correct as it turns out) and even quoted an address where I lived...over eight years ago. Dumbass.
I don't like to be rude so tried to explain, yes calmly, that she can't help me, I don't actually have any internet services in my name, (which is true) and that she needs to hang up and go pester someone else. She didn't like that very much.
Back a while I was involved in a massive hack (the Russians apparently) along with ten million other Australians and data was released. So, since then I've had a series of scams attempted, emails, calls and even letters addressed personally to me, all with snippets of information to give credibility and all trying to get access to personal data, bank accounts and credit cards. This lady was just the latest.
So, I told her she can't help again, a little more forcefully, and she lost her fucken mind. I mean, she went fully-fucken bonkers at me.
She started by telling me she was going to take me to hell and it went down hill from there...Me? Well, I didn't take too kindly to it. I let her rant a little, even asking if we were taking the bus, a train or maybe an Uber and would there be snacks in hell. She fucken lost it for real at that point. It was sort of funny, her Indian accent going full-retard at me. I was curious so let it go for a bit.
She didn't relent, I mean she went on for a couple minutes. Keep in mind, she'd told me she was from the country's largest telco...she'd have got fired if she really was. Eventually she stopped long enough for me to call her a fucken cunt and I hung up.
She called back.
I answered but said nothing, put the phone on speaker and she went off again. Finally, about a minute later, she hung up.
She called back.
Yep, and she went off again...I hadn't said anything into the phone that time either, just answered it and put it on speaker. She went on for about two minutes then hung up. That was that.
Anyway, it was then I decided I was going to deploy the scam-caller fuckerupperer. I'd decided that was the right name for it, and it sits beside me as I type this waiting for the next scam caller, hopefully it's my friend from above.
This is how it works:
- Take call and establish it is a scam caller.
- Tell them politely they cannot help me.
- If they don't acknowledge and hang up...
- Blow that fucken whistle as hard and for as long as I can into the fucken phone.
That's it, a rather simple process. I'm pretty sure that the shrill, super-loud whistle coming through a headset in one's ear is not going to feel very nice at all...and too fucken bad!
This country, and many others, are targeted by scammers who reach out from other less fortunate countries and prey upon people scamming those not careful enough with their information and calls like this have resulted in Australians losing $3.1 Billion to those scammers in 2022. That's a lot. I'm talking about the elderly being scammed out of their life-savings through their naivety, families losing thousands and many other every day Australians from all walks of life. There's no remorse shown from those scammers and very few of them get caught. Well...there'll be a few with hearing loss by the time I'm done. And you know what... #noremorse

That is awesome. I am going to have to engage the assholes that repeatedly call me with one of those scam-caller fuckerupperers. Busting open my survival kit later on. Great idea!
I think it's not going to feel very nice to get that whistle blown in their ear but scammers sometimes get what they deserve. Bust out your scam-caller fuckerupperer man, there's scammers just waiting to be fuckeruppered.
ooh hell yeah. I get so sick of those asshats calling me. Now I just need to find my freaking survival kit😀. It's been forever since I been out anywhere to take it with me. Hell, we have moved since then even.
One must buy a whistle if one can't find one's own. Lol.
yes, but I am a stubborn bastard, so I will tear my house apart looking for this one first.😀
And along the way, you'll find fifty other things you'd otherwise have to go buy! The one you want will be in exactly the last place you plan on looking, though.
!PIZZA
Actually my luck I will find fifty other things I already went and bought because I couldn't find before. 😀
Lol, Joe, I would do the same because it's got to be in there somewhere right? Stubbornness gets a bad rap - it's not a bad trait to have at all.
It is around here somewhere, I know it is. It will be found or I will tear the house down finding it.😀
Stubborness has served me well for many things except with my marriage. In that I am not so much.
That women has some serious issues. Definitely not a call centre agent. They are persistent but not as persistent. Love the "weapon of mass destruction"! Somebody is in for a rude awakening!
We have the same problem here in South Africa hey. Scammers gallore. They have even taken to WhatsApp for these crypto BTC investment scams. And especially the elderly fall for it. I think as the generation growing up with the birth of the internet and adopting it full on, we are slightly more tech savvy. Still these scammers are getting more and more creative all the time!

(1/2)Dear @galenkp, you just got hugged. on behalf of @mimismartypants.
Yep, at first I was like, hmm, maybe you are from my provider, but then...nope not a chance.
The scammers, unfortunately, manage to stay a step ahead of the law and with the internet (and their avoidance mechanisms) it's difficult to pin them down. The police here basically shrug their shoulders. Personal diligence is about all there is...that, and the scam-caller fuckerupperer of course.
I have almost deployed it twice today.
The phone rang and came up with suspected spam caller as it usually does but I answered hoping for the chance to destroy someone's hearing, after giving them a chance to do the right thing of course, but those assholes hung up on me without talking.
There will come a day when eardrums burst and it shall be a good day.
I'm not surprised you get them too, everyone does. I just wish it was like the good old days when I could get face to face with the person and cleave their head in twain with an axe, Viking style. Alas, it's not (legally) possible so the scam-caller fuckerupperer shall be deployed instead.
Methinks it is a good compromise.
Yes, I can actually imagine you saying this to her 🤣 Would have paid good money to have been a fly on the wall when she lost her shit.
One does not simply lose their shit with the G-Dog
I get great enjoyment in watching Scam Baiter Jim Browning's videos where he screws these fuckers over, but I like your no-remorse strategy. Ruthless!
I literally did. She was a crazy-ass fucken woman, no doubt. I'll give her points for persistence though.
This is true, but I think she didn't know...Now every scam caller is in for hearing damage.
Haven't seen it but I know what you mean. If I have the time I'll take them round in circles for a while, waste their time. I did it for about a half hour a few weeks back when I was driving. They're all nutbags though, I've had a few go full-retard on me. Maybe it's me? Lol.
No, she doesn't get points for persistence from me. I don't have even that much mercy.
I stopped getting scam calls a while back - most of them are on auto block on my phone. Maybe I need to take that down for a while and have some fun. I won't do the whistle though, maybe blood curdling screams? What you think? My neighbours probably won't like that 🤣
If I was one of those retards and had to get a call from Jim Browning, I would probably be able to write a post in the Weekend Engagement called "I shit myself". His voice alone is intimidating enough. The fact that by the time he is speaking to someone, he's hacked into the cameras around them, well, he's also the type not to be fucked with. He reminds me of Bane.
I was going to do orgasm noises but thought better of it, she might like that.
Yeah, surprisingly...it's been done as you know. Lol.
Bane is cool.
Orgasm noises?
🤣
I think she'd probably go even more full tilt fucktard.
This post was fun. You should post the scam call centres number and we all call them.
Lol...I wasn't really going to do that but I did wonder if I should start barking like a dog just to fuck with her some more. What a cunt she was, and is, I hope she rings back, I'm looking forward to giving her permanent hearing loss with my whistle 'O' doom.
I have heard of any number of scams through telephone calls, my country does not escape this scourge where organized crime groups make calls in order to capture victims, I think it is essential to be jealous with the information that is given through calls phone calls and even more so when we are not sure who the other person behind the line really is
I agree, it's very wise to guard one's information carefully. The problem is, many of the oldies just don't realise and end up divulging information...It's very sad especially considering there's no comeback. no one to replace their lost funds.
that is why you have to have that weapon of mass destruction active to pop the ears of those evil scammers
Yep, I'd rather throw a few hand grenades into their call centre, but the whistle is a good secondary option.
It would be fun to see how they fly with the explosion 😁 in my country it is known that most of these operations centers are in jails
In jails? What?! I never knew that.
That's right friend, the prisons in Venezuela the inmates have access to telephones and there are many extortions and despite the fact that Drug Armaments and even discotheques have certain prisons To name a few Tocoron, Puente Ayala, investigate and tell me what you think?
Brilliant!! Now, she will never call back. Does that ever happen to you just when you are prepared? I guess it is good either way now. Win-win.
I have had a garage of spam phone calls, but only since I changed my cell phone carrier. I swear they sold my number and my kids. They now get a ton, This is by T-Mobil, so it surprised me. It is too coincidental that all of us have suddenly gotten so popular with spammers and cold calls.
I don't answer most, but, like you, I have calls that I am expecting without knowing if that number is the one...
I like your style. :)
My phone is often off, left home or on silent or flight mode, I turn it on when I want to use it, so I don't generally see a lot of spam/scam calls. but when it's on they come through thick and fast, several a day. I have a Samsung S22 Ultra and it identifies reported numbers as potential spam so I just reject them, but sometimes the calls come in from mobile numbers. I only answer calls from numbers I know generally, but at the moment there's calls I need to take from numbers I don't know, and that leaves me exposed to callers like the other night. I'm pretty sick of it to be honest, so figure causing potential hearing loss with dangerously high decibel noises through the headset is about the best reward I cold give them. I'll not feel any compassion for the likes of those people. Zero.
I get the feeling they've sold your information on as so often happens. In my case my details are out there due to that hack, but I know places sell information on which is why I rarely leave any. You know all those things where you can win free stuff if you fill out the form or whatever... It ain't free.
Anyway, here's to whistle-blowing and hearing damage! Yippee!
Swiglers, I hope you're well.
Me too and it automatically blocks many. Unfortunately, I have to keep my phone on. I know places sell it, which is criminal in my opinion. Pretty sure I am not tempted by the free stuff - ever. We all know there isn't any such thing.
We are all sick of it, but, glad to see you are taking care of yours!
Same phone? Snap!
#phonsiebesties
Now, if you get yourself a whistle you'll be good to go.
#phonsiebesties
I have a whistle, I'll have to think about the ramifications of doing that.
Still #phonsiebesties
Good for you! I wonder where that one was calling from? A mental ward, perhaps?

She was certifiable for sure.
Having said that, I've been some places that seemed like hell, I was actually hoping she would take me to the real one, just for a look and to see where I'll eventually end up when the Reaper takes me.
What makes you think you'll be going somewhere bad???
Lol, just a hunch.
That is pretty awesome. I like the idea. I don't usually answer calls unless I know the number. That's how I deal with stuff like that. I know too many people who have been scammed though, it is sad.
Yeah, my phone warns of spam (reported numbers) and I never answer them The call I mention here was a mobile number and I'm in a situation right now where I have to answer them, hence me doing so. (I'm waiting for an important call and don't know the number it'll come from.) Anyway, I hope that crazy fucker that wanted to take me to hell, and all her little buddies, have eardrums made of adamantium, because my whistle is going to explode them if they don't.
Ah, okay, that makes sense. I get that way on my office phone sometimes. I never know if it is an unwanted vendor or a legitimate call. Makes it hard to know when to pick up.
On my work phone I answer everything, it's a responsibility thing. My personal phone is usually on flightmode or silent, or just left home, unless (like now) I'm expecting calls.
I figure, if it's important people will leave a message and if they don't, I don't need to worry about it. Even my friends, if people call and don't leave a message I never call back. If it was important they would voicemail or text.
My phone is for my convenience, not for the convenience of other people. I'm not a slave to it.
That is cool. I'm selective about who I talk to at work. Most of the time it is vendors or unimportant things that people think should monopolize my time.
🤣🤣🤣 I buy this idea wholly. I need me some whistle. You are so polite and nice in warning them or warding them off first before using the whistle. I probably won’t 😈
After an experience, I am sure it will feel more risky trying to scam people through the phone.
I like to be polite, give people a chance, general telemarketers are just doing a job, and not a very easy one...but the scammers? Well, I'm happy to make their ears bleed and give them permanent hearing loss, it's the least they deserve.
Incredible but real!
You have no idea how many calls my family and I received for different reasons, all of them a lie. I taught my mother to find out something about the phone caller and to block it, because they are insistent and not only by phone call.
I and many people I know both here and in Argentina received e-mails that are scams to steal our data and get into our bank accounts.
Supposedly there is privacy of data but all phone companies have our numbers and sell them to the highest bidder .... is like that.
With the elderly it's the worst, they have no idea about technology and so on ... it's complicated.
Too many scammers in this world.
Very good option with the whistle, good idea!
People (on Hive especially) like to delude themselves that they have anonymity, that they fly under the radar, when in truth their most private information is generally out there for others to see, scammers included.
These scammers reach into our lives and don't care that they ruin them, I figure the least I can do it ruin their hearing in return.
They hide behind the phone, treat others callously and with contempt and get away with it. If they tried such things standing in front of people the result would be different right? Like, I'd take action they would regret for their entire pathetic lives, but I can't so, I figure bursting their eardrums with my whistle is a reasonable fallback. I hope I cause a lot of damage, it'll make me happy and is the least I can do. They don't care about the damage they do to others and so ai think it's fair to tlreturn the favour since I'm not able to shoot them in the face through the phone.
It's true they don't care about anyone or anything, they have ruined many people's lives, and even left them without their savings, I have neighbours who have gone through that.
The worst thing is that they are free and continue to swindle.
Well done if you broke their eardrums.
These group of scanners exist in my country too, with the same tactic, I and when you have caught them red-handed, they start to curse the living daylight out of you.
Sad thing is, internet scanners hardly any get caught
Yes, your country is one of the biggest sources of scammers over here...My Aunt got scammed by A Nigerian Prince. It was her own fault, she was very naïve, but still...I'd shoot that asshole in the face if I could, with pleasure.
Oh No, not really, most Nigerian Prince story were formulated and scams originating from the western world, predominantly from USA, by the whites.
I am sure of that.
That doesn't remove the bone of contention of your claim though.
What a dumb thing to say.

nice post my friends, but I don't like it ha..ha..
This comment is both ambiguous and useless.
That user is useless too...He's just making a point because he just downvoted about twenty of my posts. Lol.
Oh good for him (dripping with sarcasm).
to him.
Indeed...Luck will be needed, but luck will not prevent what will ensue.
you people are not good at judging people, I am not unable to repay you, but I still have a sense of humanity, not like you
Yeah, they're all fuckers.
