in Freewriters3 years ago

To kill a mockingbird is one of those books that almost everyone comes across once in their lifetime. The book is an American classic written in 1960 by Harper Lee,. It has talked about racism as it's major theme. It is an eye-opener since it has brought out African-American tensions, white superiority and slavery.

It addresses terrible incident of racism in Alabama, a town in America with the point of view of a 6 years old girl. The book is about Atticus Finch, the person who is totally unconventional and a role model because of his morality. He, being a lawyer stands by a negro who was accused of raping a white girl. This was the time when racism was at it's peak in America.

The authoress Harper Lee has focused on the gut feeling of wrong and right. It has an aura of innocence as the story is presented with the perspective of a young child. The characters are charismatic. It is an absorbing story, I could see myself getting indulged in it when I was reading it few years back

This book won the Pulitzer prize in 1961, which proves how beautiful this book has been written. A movie has also been filmed on the story of this novel in 1962 starring Gregory peck.
I would strongly recommend my readers to give this wonderful novel a Go
