SARAH MOLLY'S LANE

in Freewriters3 years ago

It was 2am when we heard a loud scream from the front yard.
It was Kira again, she had been sleep walking and this time around she was taken by someone we could not get a clear view of from the bedroom window.

Kira had the habit of sleep walking and we thought it was wise to put a tracker on her, because on some mornings we'd find her on the park or somewhere far from the house.
"Where is it taking us?" Sam asked as we kept driving down the quiet road.

"I think, I think..." I stuttered because I wanted to be sure I got the exact location.
"Do i have to read the damn tracker myself?" Sam yelled.
"I think it's leading to 'Sarah Molley's' lane." I replied.

Before I completed the statement, Sam pulled over at the right side of the lane.
"What's wrong?" I asked a bit confused.

"I can't go in there, not at this time, it's almost 3am." He replied with a bit of fear in his tone.
"Oh c'mon Sam, don't tell me you've fallen for the crap of a dead hag haunting men on this road every 3am?" I asked smiling at sam and expecting him to smile back but he didn't.

"I knew Kira would put me in deep shit one day, how about we come back for her tomorrow morning?" Sam said scratching the back of his head.

The pressure was on Sam because Kira was his younger sister and I was his girlfriend.
"C'mon Sam, even if this Sarah Molly's haunted folklore is real, I still have the rosary my mom gave to me. It surely can ward off spirits." I replied.

"I'm counting on that." Sam replied as he turned on the car.
It was 2.56am in the morning, as we drove, I kept giving Sam "the I told you look" because we were already out of her lane and there was no sign of a haunted ghost.

I can't really explain how it happened but the next time I turned my face, we were almost running over a figure in a long white gown.

It was the creepiest shit I had seen in my entire life. I believed in a lot of things but not angry spirits roaming a quiet creepy road at 3am.

"Did we hit her?" Sam asked shaking and already sweating in fear.
"Yes we did." I replied, turning back to have a better view but she somewhat disappeared.
"What if she appears in the back seat like we see in the movies?" Sam asked, almost finding it difficult to drive and breathe.

"She won't." I replied with a level of confidence in my voice.
"Why? What makes you so sure?" Sam asked.

"Because she cannot stand the blood of Jesus, whether she has every legal right to operate on this road or not, she just cannot stand it."

And I was right, that was the last time Sam and I spoke of her. She didn't come after us either. It was the first time in 50 years of haunting.

Daily, the local news made reports of missing men that drove pass "Sarah Molly's lane" around her hour of attack and the never made it out alive.

It was not just about the Rosary, that was to get Sam to keep driving. As for Kira, we found her but after days of searching.

Till today Sam says "Hey Rosie, there are some things you cannot just un-see. Truly, there is more to what the physical holds.

"Guess who believes in ghosts now?" Sam.
