This post is my response to today's ZapFic Monday prompt in the Freewriters' community. The prompt is "TERRIFY".

“Do I terrify you ?” the warlord asked, twirling his long moustache.
The two children said “No.”
But their fearful shivering proved they lied.
“Well I should. Add their heads to the pyramid of skulls. Let us make it as tall as the city walls.”
For any of my friends (or anyone else, for that matter !) who reads this and fancies giving it a try, it's really fun and thought provoking. The rules are really simple;
- The Freewriters Community has a Zapfic post with a writing prompt every Monday
- Your response must be posted within 3 days in the Freewriters Community.
- Please post a link to your entry in the comments section of the prompt post
- Please use #freewritehouse and #zapfic tags.
- The important one - YOU MUST use a word/character counter (if you search for word counter on the internet or in your phone's app store you will get a big choice!) wordcounter.net and include a screenshot. Entries without a screenshot will NOT be valid.
- Please use the prompt provided as you see fit (use your imagination)
- Try to tell a complete story if you can!
- The story should only be up to 240 characters long (including spaces, punctuation etc).
I can imagine how frightened the children were with the fierce looking war lord, twirling his mustache in the most terrifying way.
I guess I would love to give this a try, would have to read the community rules and check other people's post in the community for an idea on how to go about it.
Thank you ! You should definitely give it a try - the rules are pretty simple, sometimes it's a case of writing a story with exactly 50 words, other times with 240 characters or less, using the prompt and a screenshot showing the word or character count. It's fun ! 😁

The warlord is truly frightening. The children say no, but their fear is obvious. His cruelty knows no limits. This short story makes me want to try writing too man, looks challenging but still interesting
