Having played all first eleven matches without a win, the management staff of Mighty Sparrow decided to make the necessary and needed changes at the helm of affairs. First, they fired the first team coach and brought their ex player in his place. Next were the goalkeeper trainers and the assistant head coach. In fact new caches where hired to steer the team out of the murky relegation waters steering at them.
The team responded so well in training and were able to win the next two home games. The winning margin were just slim in nature. But they managed to grind out a win.
Those hard-fought wins were followed by three straight barren draws. Everyone felt that the team was about to hit a rhythm but that was not to be. There next seven games ended in heavy defeats, both at home soil and away! The panic button was activated.
All efforts to galvanise through team and propel them to victories by the new sets of coaches all proved abortive. Relegation were steering at them. The Mighty Sparrow players then realized that there is little or no chance of them playing in the topflight come next season. They lost confidence on their new coaches and even their ability to avoud the dreaded drop.
The rot continued as they were pummeled by every other team that comes their way. At the end of the season the inevitable happened. They got relegated.
