I believe there are two main reasons people struggle to reach language learning goals

  1. Lack of Curiosity
This was actually my greatest strength, though I didn't fully realize it until recently. Whenever I come across a new word, I'm curious about its nature. Is it a noun, an adjective, or a verb? What does it mean? How can I use it in a sentence? How can I pronounce it?

I’m also driven to explore the nuances of similar words—like the differences between look, see, and watch. Or I ask myself, “How do the 12 tenses differ?” These questions, fueled by curiosity, drive my progress. The more answers I find, the more I advance.

2 . Not Putting in the Work
This often comes down to either laziness or impatience. For me, reaching this level took over 10,000 hours of study, and I believe I still need 30,000 hours to reach my ultimate goal.

Accepting that language learning is a lifelong journey rather than a short trip, and committing to the effort over years, makes all the difference.
