Childhood was a season of cruise. Well, when I talk of cruise, you know what I mean.
As children we were into so many foolish things and we did a lot of foolish things, well that’s why the scriptures said that foolishness is bound in the heart of a child but the rod of discipline drives it far from them.
When I was a child, there were so many incidents and cases of rituals on going in our locality. Well this may sound strange to you, but am from Africa and in Africa there are some strange things that you would see and hear. They may sound like a lie but they are actually truth.
We had so many menace cases where children were used as rituals and how does this happen? Very simply. A child would be going on the road and see an item dropped on the floor.
With nobody insight, the child would be tempted to pick the money and when that happens, the child would turn into an object. The person that dropped that would be by the corner watching to see what would happen to the victim. These are mostly done on lonely paths were kids can accidentally stroll to.
When the child turns into the object which most times is yam or an edible item, the item is picked up and taken away for money rituals.
As stupid as this sounds, there were repeated cases of children missing until some miscreants were caught in the act and were arrested.
Hence that period, every parent sang it into the ears of their children saying “don’t pick that”. Whatever you see on the road, no matter how tempting it may seem. Don’t pick it.

I can relate with this story. It was rampant some years ago. I think it still happens now, but they've upgraded their method.
