Philosophizing and walking – I'm back on the trail

It's not easy to change and start something new. We suffer from a kind of inertia in our ingrained habits and routines.

It all starts with a small, unpretentious idea that we decided to put into practice. If by chance it works, that is, this way of acting brings us joy and well-being, we end up wanting to repeat the dose turning it into a project.

Obviously, a little discipline is necessary so that the dark forces of laziness do not return soon, but in some happy cases, we can be sure that our new way of being will have to be established in a lasting way.

That's what I feel today after having restarted yesterday two essential activities in my life that I had put aside in recent times: walking and studying Philosophy. As well as a third one I do now: writing.

I remembered the ancient Peripatetics, disciples of Aristotle, who listened to their master's lectures while walking in nature. Thinking and walking are complementary. Immobility seems to atrophy not only the muscles but the brain as well.

If Philosophy is the love of wisdom, it means that we don't have wisdom, but we want it, and we need to look for it in the outside world. Knowledge, at first, is outside of us, and we need to come out of the sleep of our own house in search of vigor and awakening.

Starting over will never be late, late implies not starting, late implies not taking the first step, late implies not being overwhelmed by fear, late implies trusting in our passivity, inertia should not be part of our daily life. Thank you for these relations of life under Aristotle's conceptions.
