Unspoken Love

The words I long to say yet hold my silent tongue,
Not knowing if your heart still holds me in its grace.
As waves upon the shore their endless song has sung
Their message here may speak what I cannot face.
By moonlit sea I watch the distant scene unfold,
Hoping against despair your form there I may see,
My love for you in sighs unto the night retold
As on the waters' glass your vision comes to me.
Though fear says you may never come upon this shore,
My eyes will not abandon their steadfast watch,
Lest chance should bear you to me once more, my dear,
And let these waiting arms your presence embrace.
Thus at the ocean's edge I'll keep my patient vigil,
Till time or tide at last reveal love's final signal.
