Where were you last night

Where were you last night, while I was moonless?
Your sleepless absence kept me with longing and grief
While in other arms, you were making merriment
Leaving this wanting in flames and affliction
I thought that this time yes, you would stay by my side
But again you departed at dawn almost furtive
Leaving behind you, the shadow of sin
And my heart on the ground withered and idle
What pleasure did you find in arms like hers?
That not even a kiss like this ardour could comfort me
Tell me, is it preferable the game of another's skin?
When I was the one who gave warmth to your glow
Come back love, don't leave me my happiness in oblivion
That without you passion becomes sadness the nest
